A minor suggestion.

Hello to everyone. As we all know the klerouchoi phalangitai were perhaps the most numerous infantry soldiers in the hellenistic kingdoms at least until some unfortunate roman encounters. However their loyalty was sometimes questioned since in order to keep their land allotments they would sell their services to the conquerors in order to keep their land eg. pergamon, pontos, commagene, bythinia.
So what I am proposing is that there could be a building like in EB1 called kleroi (lands for military settlers) that would allow instant recruitment of klerouchoi for any phalangitai using faction without the need of barracks. It could add some income (as kleroi were taxed 10% to their income in seleukeia and 10% to their grain production in egypt if I remember correctly) but would have unrest penalties as these soldiers would often commit atrocities to the local populations given that they were trialed by greek judges and never rarely punished (at least until late 2 cent. BC in egypt).
Also I cannot remember if it has already been suggested but shouldn't the Ptolemaioi get a machimoi phalangitai reform. We know that before Raphia the machimoi never used sarissas but after the fourth syrian war they were levied in great numbers.

That's an interesting idea, but i don't know how this would affect game balance. You could raise a decent army in a given area very quickly, faster than even RTW vanilla.

As for the reform for the Machiomoi i dunno. The machimoi were used later just because Egypt didn't have enough of the Macedonian phalanx. The machimoi weren't an improved version, but actually a worse one. So i don't know why there would be a reform that would downgrade your army

Sound good if you ask me - seems realistic also (althoug I quess the unrest penalty shoudln't be as great wih Pontos as with other Factions if this does get intigrated somehow... - Pontos was mainly ruled by hellenised Persian whom I quess would not hesitate to punish Greek soldier-sttlers getting out of hand...)

I think that sound even better then your other suggestion. I always felt it wrong that the Ptolemaioi AI (and the player in most cases) fields lots of Machiomoi soldiers while historically the Ptolies did anything to make sure that the Egyptians under there rule had neither the equipement nor the knowledge to fight well. I think if there are still possibilities to add a building like "Machiomoi recruitment" which only become avaleable later in the game - the player could choose to recruit native egyptians (at a fair price with high max unit numbers and quickly becoming availeable, but with a high unrest penalty) or not build it and stay with the usual units. This could simulate that a succesfull Ptolemaic empire wouldn't need to rely on Egyptians in large numbers since in reallity the only reason they started to recruit/train/equip them was the huge shortage of soldiers...

Well you could create a massive army with minor upkeep cost in the cities but it would cost you a lot of money to keep in the field so you wouldn't be able to use them as an effective attcking force but only as garrison troops according to the creators.
As for the machimoi it isn't so much a matter of downgrading the quality of your army as it is a quick way to bolster your army with huge numbers.
I highly doubt that the Ptolemaioi prefered using untrained poorly armed native phalangitai instead of the proffesional pezhetairoi or klerouchoi.
It is just ahistrorical to have this unit before 219 bc.

Units won't be recruited from barracks in EBII anyway (the majority won't anyways - some units, such as elephants or certain mercenaries, will need a specific building to help house them), and so this is not an issue.

Also, a machmoi reform will be available. However, it will be player-led. The player will need to choose how their land is divided up. Giving out smaller plots will mean the machimoi will only be light troops. By increasing the size of the plots of land that can be owned by farmers, the machimoi will be able to equip and train themselves in a heavier fashion. This will lead to small numbers of machimoi being available for recruitment, however. It will be on a province by province basis, and dependent on how the player wishes to play the game.
