lamellar helmet
Greetings to all
Tis is my first post here so i hope i put it in the wright place, and btw my english isnt that good (great start i made here :laugh4:)
To keep my post short, my question, can someone help me with some research, pictures or sites about lamellar helmets. why? i love to try to recreate ancient armor. i started by making some leather stuf and then jumped to chainmaille (4 in 1 pattern). Now i want to try to make a helmet but i dont have the tools to make a 'normal' one piece helmet. Working on small pieces of metal or leather isnt a issue and mutch more fun to do.
first some pictures of a lamellar helmet
i think it is a hunnic helmet, probable from a nobel cavalry man

On one of the loading screens from EB there is a (i think) pontic nobleman with a lamellar helmet, does someone have information on that one? beacause it looks like an easy dessign and a good starting point. If im succesfull i will post some pictures here, perhaps i post some pictures of my maille here is someone is interested.
thx
btw: great mod, i love it

Re: lamellar helmet
I think the helmet itself might be based on later Kushan designs as we know they were greatly influenced by the Saka, but i'm not certain.
The Orlat bone plaques would have played a big role in the design as AFAIK they were the main source for the normal Saka cataphracts and the early parthian bodyguard. You can see lamellar hemets depicted in them.
They also liked to depict their leaders on their coins, armoured and riding on a horse, so we get a good idea of the armour but i haven't seen a coin where the helmet is clear.

Re: lamellar helmet
Now, helmets I cannot help with. But I can say welcome, and if at some point you wish to make a lamellar armour, here is how you go about it. Oleg sells lamellar too should you not want to make them all yourself.

Re: lamellar helmet
It is my re-enactment group, we are Danes ;-) Oleg is half Russian-half-British though, and sells lamellar online (in fact that is how he makes a living), and can also help in English.
