Face ridiculous population boost?????? the barbarians? NOT AGREE! I mean, i've really decent armies and economy in my on-going Swerboz campaing, but as for population, i'm sure they even use their women in the army coz i'm on the bare limit for most of cities to keep them on the 3 level... city? or big town or anyway... but hehe, no poppulation boost here!
Ok, so you must give them entry in EDB... locate their model (port that from BI for barbarian huge cities), and set them in descr_cultures, and after that, copy the .TGA files according to the buildings properties, and don't forget give entries in "export_buildings"

Because they didn't do so historically? Huge cities require some sort of administrative system to work. "Barbarian" governments were often pretty rudimentary compared to the bureaucracies of Rome and the western Greeks. The latter, in turn, paled next to the vast systems of the eastern empires.
Plague control is difficult in big cities, which might be one of the reasons...
Get the City Mod to make it more balanced.
what is the city mod? what does it make?
MAA's spectacular mod, stickied in the modding subforum. It limits the expansion of most cities on the map. Very few cities can grow into huge cities, etc.
