What does "Pezoi" mean on the Greek, Macedonian, Seleucid... etc. flags?
I think it has to do something with foot soldiers (e.g. Pezoi Brutioi - Brutian infantry, Pezhetairoi- foot companions).
Exactly. It's just the generic greek term for 'foot warriors'/infantry - derived from ποῦς (pous); 'foot' - cf. πεζέταιροι/'foot- companions' and can be found in literature (IIRC) as early as ~730 BC (Homer's Iliad).
Most Hellenic factional infantry also has a banner carrier, the flag says Pezoi too.
