Pulled over for speeding, question for UK drivers.
I got pulled over for speeding, and after telling me off rotten, taking my name and checking my insurance, they told me to go on. They never gave me a ticket or any physical reciept. Will I get a letter through the post in the next few days or does that mean I've escaped with a verbal warning? Do they track verbal warnings? Have I just 'used up' their good will and will they be harsher next time?
Any UK drivers know the answers?

How far over the limit were you, and on what sort of road? I expect you were just given a ticking off.
You get a letter from the speed cameras - if you get stopped by the police, I think they have to issue you the fine and advise you of any points there and then, so you should be OK. I'm guessing it was the end of their shift and they wanted to avoid the paper work - either that or you're a very good looking blonde girl with come hither eyes.

Maybe they had already reached the daily quota. Hope they got your best side.

The officer in question was of the female persuasion  I was doing around the 40 mark in a 30 zone :embarassed:. The irony was that I was following another car. They could have overtaken me to pull them over, but I guess I was the easier target. It was in the evening, so touch wood I got lucky.

Yeah, could have been shift change soon or some other reason she didn't feel like doing the paperwork. The towns around here are so desperate for $$$ due to the State budget crisis that they're writing tickets as fast as they can. I set my cruise control even at village speeds of 30 mph just so I don't inadvertently go over. Some of the guys at work have been written up for just a few mph over the limit.

In the UK if you're just a few miles over the limit, you can pay to go on an 'education' course rather than get the points on the license. I know someone who went on one and apparently they're quite interesting.
That depends on wether she's a member of the .org or not
Too hot to touch
