Paper Telephone [EPYC] game - [Concluded]
Paper Telephone (also known as Eat Poop You Cat)
How to play
The first player begins by writing a sentence or phrase. This can be anything and in reference to anything. More surreal sentences tend to produce funnier final results. The next player then attempts to come up with an illustration that represents the sentence. Then the paper is folded over so that only the picture can be seen and is passed to the next player. Usually there are some restrictions on what can appear in the illustration to ensure that the third player cannot easily replicate the original sentence. For instance, numbers and letters can be forbidden. The next player then attempts to formulate a caption for the illustration. Once the third player has captioned the illustration, the paper is folded over so that only the caption can be seen, and is passed to the next player. This is continued until the game ends. There are a few different opinions as to when the game should end, but it should always end on a sentence, not an illustration. Therefore it is best played with an odd number of people. One variation says the game ends when every player has had a turn.
.org variant RULES:
- Use Microsoft paint or any other image-creating software, and host the image on photobucket or some other site.
- You may cut and paste bits and pieces of other images you find elsewhere, but do not post obscene content or anything in violation of .org policy.
- Numbers and letters are discouraged, unless they are part of the image you cut and pasted and it has NOTHING to do with what you're trying to convey. I'll be the judge of that.
- Players all get one turn to start off with, if we get enough players.
- I will begin the game by being Player One. I will write a sentence and send it to player two.
- Player two will create a crudely drawn image which is supposed to represent what player one wrote down, using no words, just drawings and images.
- Player two sends the image (just the image) to player three.
- Player three writes a caption for the image and sends the caption (just the caption) to player four.
- Player four creates a crudely drawn image which depicts what the caption says, and so on, sends just the image to player five.
- Continues until everyone has had a turn, and many turns have passed.
- They all must send the caption and the images to the game host (Me) every turn as well, so I can monitor what is going on and make sure all images and captions are legal.
- Captions must not be longer than 70 words.
- Images need to fit on the forum comfortably, and let's keep the images under a certain size. Resize them if necessary, 800*600 is plenty big enough.
EDIT: RULE CHANGE-
I would prefer it if each player sent the image or caption only to me on the end of their turn, so I can make sure it is legal.
Objective:
Try to accurately represent what the picture says or the caption says when you make your caption or picture.
The end result will be odd and amusing.
IMPORTANT:
Do not post either the images or the captions on this thread. I will post them all at the end of the game.
If you're interested, please sign up. There are no winners or losers, this is for fun and takes very little of your time. The results are frequently amusing to read.

Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
Sure, you requested nicely and I got a few minutes to spare every now and then, why not? :clown:
In (Oh my, quite a while since I've said that word! :laugh4:)
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
Sounds very stressful but I will try to participate nonetheless. Hope I won't get WoGed. :sweatdrop:
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
This is the easiest game in the world. :beam: You can't lose, you can only have your turn skipped if you dawdle.
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
Sounds like a great idea. Just don't let the rounds drag to long, I already know I'll be majorly anxious to see the end results. :laugh4:
So, anyway, In I am.

Sure, sounds fun. Put me at or near the end of the list so I have a good time delay to respond.

Now, if someone doesn't tell me how you can modify images in Paint, all my pictures are going to look like this.

Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
That's the idea, Double A. :beam:
These won't be works of art, for the most part. Which will make making captions even more difficult and inaccurate.

Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
WTH, let's try this. Are we gonna go at random? I don't want to be next after Double A if his drawings are as erratic as his posts often are.

I can easily accomodate you.
Diana requested specifically to have a caption for her turn. if you wish I can move you around to be before Double A. But let's keep those requests to a minimum.

Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
I don't mind being in any position, I was joking.
This is gonna test my creativity if I have to describe that brown.... er, thing, that Double A has drawn.

Seth Brundle enters the Telepod with a baked potato and is transported across his laboratory. Unfortunately he and the potato have now fused together, and he has become a horrible hybrid of man and potato.
"KILL ME!!! KILL MEEEEE!!!!!" says the Brundletato.
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
:laugh4: Seth Brundle and a potato! That's not the brown thing I had in mind when I first saw the drawing.
I hope that I am creative enough for this, your caption is scary, as in "I would never come up with something like that, ever".
I'll go after Diana, so I'll be drawing. Drawing will be easier..... I think.

Which is all the more embarrassing for me, who still doesn't 100% get this, but it looks artsy, so I'm in.
Can we do another cycle after the first one?

Okay, 13 players, a nice odd number for the game. And yeah, after we do the first one people can get the hang of it and we will do another, bigger one which will probably be funnier.
I need to write the role PMs for the Murder Manor game. After that I might open this one and the Murder manor one at the same time.

It originally was going to be yellow, but I recently saw an episode of South Park with Mr. Hankey in it. So it's basically Mr. Hankey mixed with http://www.twcenter.net/forums/image...mot_vhappy.gif

Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
Those are letters?
Ohhhhh, so that's what they look like.
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
Should we post the original caption at the beginning of the game, or at the end?
I think, whatever way we do it, it might be funny to show the whole progression after the game is over.
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
I think we are going to end up with something way off where we started.
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
Thanks for putting me after Husar, maybe I can understand his German painting better than a English one.
Anyway, I was hoping for a drawing turn myself, because I agree with Romanic in thinking that might be easier.
BTW: Double A, I am unable to see your pictures. I guess it's because I don't have access to twcenter, so that might be something to consider when deciding where to host the pictures for the game.
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
I don't think that's the problem, the TWC album I'm using is public.
Although, I'm not too sure you want to see the pictures...
-
Re: Paper Telephone (EPYC) game
I agree, I am unable to see the pictures either.
