But this shows that it can happen, so be careful that you do not get taken.
Just a note, if ETW/NTW use VAC, requests do nothing.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
All VAC bans are permanent - Valve has a zero-tolerance policy for cheating and will not lift VAC bans under any circumstances.
contacting Steam Support to report cheaters is not necessary, nor will Steam Support act on any information provided. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...hp?p_faqid=370
If it doesnt use VAC, ignore my post.

Napoleon is not a VAC server program (I believe the host of the game becomes the server, with message transfers though Steam).
But you can report cheaters by going to "their" profile page while you are logged in to your Steam account, and use the “Report Violation” drop-down in the upper right hand corner.
It is my understanging that if they are verified as a cheater by Steam, they will loose their game and be banned from Steam forever.

I wonder how many people have or will be innocently banned from Steam.

You don't think that this person was a cheat?
Want to see the replay and screenshot that confirmed the profile ID (even through he changed his name)?
There were proofs given along with the complaint.
This was not a witch hunt, there was no innocent person accused or banned (he is now gone btw).
No; what we have here is someone ruining multiplayer for the rest of us.
This was not a prank or a joke; this was an intentional game modification to take advantage of other players.
Cheating is very serious stuff at Steam, as it should be :skull:

Quite a few I would say.
Especially since once you are banned you lose every single game on your profile.
Steam never unbans, so if a friend cheats on your account, unlucky...

Well the Innocently Banned Steam Accounts Forum has been up for going on three years, have a look.
VAC doesn't just ban without a reason, there have been ZERO false positives since it was created (excluding bugs/glitches that caused bans but Valve reversed those).
What will get you banned v. What won't get you banned
I see...like 6 posts on that forum. Must have died quickly? :laugh4:
But yeah, a system where they will never unban is going to be flawed. Just don't cheat I guess (on VAC secured) I doubt Valve care about ETW/NTW cheaters.

Yep. Don't cheat, simple. I'm a bad MP player skill wise, but I'm not going to cheat though. Then I won't be any better then these people.
Let the saying goes, If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
