Pre-battle CTD on AI's turn

Hi. Big fan of this mod. I was grateful to find information on this forum about using it with Steam, so maybe you all can help me with a persistent crash that I'm experiencing.

I'm using EB with the 1.2 patch, launching from Steam (which hopefully isn't the source of the problem). I've been unable to find a consistent trigger, other than that the AI attacks me during their turn, the battle starts to load, then CTD. Except that this doesn't always happen. When I reload, the battle will load normally. If you look at the save game I've uploaded, this is a turn on which I experienced a crash. The Aedui assaulted the city and were annihilated, no problem, but then the Lusotannans declare war, the smaller stack attacks my roving army, the battle begins to load, and crash. However, I would bet money that it doesn't crash for you after it has been reloaded. You might have to wait several turns for another Aedui army to make an assault, or maybe the Koinon Greeks or the Lusotannan. In any case, after reload, the game plays normally for a few turns, then crashes while trying to load a battle after the AI attacks me.

Hopefully someone will be familiar with this problem or have no trouble duplicating it. I'd hate for the problem to just be me. : /

P.S. Probably unrelated, but I did have at least one crash on MY turn, when I was besieging whatever city that Spartan mercenary general for the Carthaginians was in. I assumed it was because he had two units, one Carthaginian bodyguard unit, one unit of Spartan whatevers. When I reloaded, the battle loaded as normal without crashing. But he still had two units, so I had to kill him twice.

Well i think its quite pointless advice at this moment and there must be better solution,but if everything fails you can just install EB on Barbarian invasion add-on.Saves are compatibile and this solve all problems i have with CTDs. https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showt...arian-Invasion

There is also EB for Alexander,in two versions i believe.First just upgrade.....things etc,but still enough to solve CTD.Second bring something new into EB.....enhancement they say.But i dont know,didnt manage run this version and full screen in same time.I mean mod is fine and everything (propably),core of problem was compatibility with windows 7.

Mine was due to the fact I hadn't installed the 1.2 fixes as detailed in the installation instructions. When I installed the sprites fix it worked perfectly. If this doesn't help one of the tech support guys wil be along soon to help.

Ah, that does sound similar to my problem. Somehow I glossed over the download links for those fixes. I've downloaded them now, we'll see what happens. Thanks!

As far as the EB with BI download goes, does that work with Steam? Steam seems to make everything a bit more complicated.

Sorry mate but i dont know.Do u know when they release half-life 2?Last time when i do something around steam:D.But if RTW work with steam,there is no reason why BI dont.You can try and always return to RTW.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I haven't experienced any more crashes. It was probably the sprite fix that did it, but I did the EB for BI thing as well and that's working fine too. Thanks again!

Good Morning People. I'm experiencing an issue similar to Zod's...

The problem seems to be the Epirotes: I had a issues before installing the fixes, CTD occourred upon loading a battle on Epirote's AI turn so I installed the fixes and I eventually managed to fight that battle and carry on with the campaign. Now i went some turns forward and when I finish the turn I have to defend a settlement from a Makedonian attack (so I fight the battle no problem...) then the AI does it's things until it gets to the Epirotes turn that attack my army occupied in beseiging their town of Pella an that's when it CTD... First time I was attacked by an army coming from outside the town, the second time I tried it was from the beseiged ones... The first time I also fought a battle during Carthagines AI turn wich didn't happen the second time.
I should mention CTD have occourred also on my turn even if I wasn't doing anything extraordinary, but that was before installing the fixes.
I don't remember wether my EB is installed on RTW or non the EB expansion, but running with the RTW cd i bet that that's the one... :sweatdrop:
Should I try to reinstall everything on EB?? Maybe I could take Pella before the turn ends, but that will not solve the problem for the future...

Are those mentioned CTD's repeatable or do they come randomly? RTW has a memory problem, if you fight many battles in the AI turn there is a chance to get a engine related CTD.
Are there any FM's engaged in the battle at Pella?

Well, before installing the fixes it seemed they were coming randomly. Now I believe this is the first time it crashes after having installed corrections...
If with FM you mean Family Members then the answer is yes, we both have one general in the army, I have a full stack while the Epirote's is just half.
But number of soldiers has never been a problem because for example the battle against the Makedonians I mentioned in the first post is fought by both armies composed of 20 units.
At this point I believe it might be an hardware lack of RAM, since I only have 1GB... ummm...

Did you replay the turn and received the exactly same results? This is repeatable, all other things should be randomly.
Is it winter the turn the Epirotes are attacking you?

So that's what I did:

1) Tried to start a new campaign with the Sweboz -> CTD before the first battle on AI turn.
2) Unistalled EVERYTHING.
3) Reinstalled Vanilla + BI + BI 1.6 + EB + EB for BI.

Now I will start a testing process wich will take several hours...
