Your Setup identical to mine? We can tell who formatted your computer two days ago.

Also, Why do you other people put so many dirty cluttering icons all over their desktop. Do you really use Adobe reader that much, so you need to open it from the desktop? etc.
This always bugs me. What is the point of opening Acrobat Reader from an icon? So you can then go File->Open-> ? The whole point of filename extensions in Windows is to circumvent the need for this kind of clutter. I always delete shortcuts to Reader, WMC, and other "viewer" type links on the desktop.
@Secura: you/she needs to be more careful with the combination of eye shadow, mascara and/or eyeliner there. ;)
Also: my desktop changes with the mood. But usually its KDE with a slideshow, right now it is this:

Photobucket shrinks my pics!

Because I am kind of old and blind and need them right in front of me.
Actually, I use Firefox and never IE. However, for some reason my wife likes to use IE sometimes.
Hah, you should set up other accounts for wife/kids to use. For my laptop, I have a login named "Alternative" which I make Secura use if she comes here. Stops her messing around with my machine.
Anyway, here is the (real) background which is on my desktop computer.

you know, I thought of that myself: luckily, can actually come up with a solution :clown:
my wallpaper is in fact a painting: the battle of Fontenoy, by some French guy in 1837. it shows the famous scene where the guards and..well, other guards meet each other, and try to tell each other to shoot first (which is a legend; they did greet each other, but said sth less gentlemanly to one another):

I use XP still, since my computer is too old for Windows 7; I don't plan on getting a new computer anytime soon, since my computer atm is already awesome as it is (I mean, how can you not think that after every computer expert says mine runs faster than most computers being sold today? :jester:)

God I am such a nerd. I put my stuff on the oceans to keep it from screwing too much with the map, making my entire desktop as inconvenient as hell. I just throw whatever I use often up there, so not the most compact and efficient way to go about things.
Stretched a bit from the original image, but nine months later and I still haven't found anything awesome enough to replace it.

Well, this is one from my current "slideshow":

And Ibn-Khaldun, maybe you have set Photobucket to a maximum image size? I set mine to a max size of 1MB so I can just compress them a bit if they're too big otherwise but it doesn't change the pixel size.

You guys really do need to clean up your icons. :smash:
Why?
Wait, Beskar, how DO you make the Windows 7 bar go to the left corner of the screen?
(I'll be embarrassed if it's anything like Control Panel -> Settings -> THE BAR AT THE BOTTOM -> Change)
Awesome. :2thumbsup:
As for my desktop, the background is usuallystolenused from somebody's flickr photos. Great place to find some really amazing shots by both amateur/professional photographers.
I definitely agree with the general consensus here of removing the clutter from desktops. Right now though, I just cannot be bothered uploading a pic just yet. :laugh4:
Runescape in the OP's picture? Whahahaha!
Resized to 1280x715

I never have my desktop open, so...always have at least a firefox window open in each screen. I also have multimon, so taskbar on my second monitor, is cool
At my old job, I had a cool picture of Ken Masters. But seriously, I went 2 months without seeing my desktop, that ended yesterday.
As for the launching programs debate, I use a free program called Launchy
Alt+Space and I just type in whatever the program is.
