Best mods that change campaign?

Hey everyone,

seeing this community so active is quite amazing for a game that old. So hopefully enough people around to help me out.

I played through the plain MTW1 with several factions now and am looking for mods. To be specific, I am looking for mods that considerably change the campaign map, e.g. new eras/new locations/etc. I do not care much for changes to graphics or battle map (but I would not mind them if the campaign map changes as well). So seeing how there are about 300 posts in the modding forum and I don't really have the time to check them all out, I want to know:

What are the best mods that change the campaign map?

Do you have the VI expansion? Most, but not all, of the mods will require it.

Yes, I got the Gold edition, which includes VI.

If you like a slightly later age, you can try cegorach's Pike and Musket mod. If you want the same timeframe/location, but expanded factions and more flavor, there are the BKB, XL, MTW-Redux, WesMod, and Tyberius mods to name a few. If you want Shogun 1.5, you can try the Samurai Warlords mod. There is also a Hellenic TW if you want ancient Greece. Those are the big ones I can think of at the moment.

I have had some of my best campaigns with xl+tyberius mod. here's my screenshot of a 5 nation battle

Been playing XL recently and having very interesting Irish campaign. Lots of new playable factions, new units, and the AI is a bit more challenging.
Mods make vanilla MTW way better.

Hey Cogre, I was wonder what are the bonuses of the tiberus mod?
Is it easily installed like XL was and compatible with XL. I am not very tech savvy.

I seen a thread on making the Shara a province, but figure I would just mess up the game trying to do it. Wish it was a province in XL, but I think there was a limit to the amount of factions, units, and provinces that could be in MTW.

it is super easy to install, even though it comes in like 4 parts.
it adds more factions and pretties them up even more.
I used to say that the tyb mod add on made the xl mod xlier

I am playing Ancient Total War right now and having a lot of fun!!! This mod is what RTW should have been. A complete rework of all the units, factions, buildings, etc. set to play in the Ancient World. Ancient Total War is a great mod for those interested in that time period.
