A friend and I are having a debate over Caesar’s Civil War. I contend that Caesar received far more defectors from the Optimates than vice versa, both at the rank-and-file level and the officers-level. He contends the number of defectors Caesar received was exaggerated (being that history is written by the victors, after all).
Could anyone point me to material--primary sources being preferred--that supports either claim?
