To choinon ton nesioton, the league of the islanders

Hi, after the reading of an article about the diplomatic relations between the Ptolemies and the league of the islanders, which unified the Cyclades during the Hellenistic era, I hoped that it would be added in this future version of EB.
This league was originally created by Antigonos the one-eyed but in 286 Ptolemy Soter, taked control over the archipel and refounded the league as a Ptolemaic protectorate.

This could be represented by a Cyclades region centered on Delos, under the control of the Ptolemies with a the status of a semi autonomous region.

Perhaps a junction could be done between the differents islands to allow the armies to land in the region and to attack the city.

This new region could improve the historical accuracy by creating a reason for the ptolemies to send fleets in the area against the macedonian forces.

While I agree with this to a good degree I think the idea has in all likelihood, already been dismissed by the team. For one, Delos would be a relatively obvious choice for a settlement as it was famous as one of, if not the largest slave markets in that area of the world. Second, it contained what could be considered a wonder, the old Delian League treasury. Lastly, the islands were a point of contention between the Makedonians and Ptolemies and it would help gameplay wise as atm, the Ptolemies are not at all concerned with the Aegean region as historically they were, perhaps even more so than Syria.

However, there is a hardcoded region limit as well as the fact that Delos is very, very tiny on the map and I'm not sure that a town could fit there while allowing many islands to be represented and still be territory for troops to land, a port, etc. Also, I'm not really sure if Delos was much of a settlement as much as it was a trading depot of the time.

One solution could be to give little corners of land to the Ptolemaioi, just like in EB...
But maybe it's not necessary, in a M2TW mod for example Venice always, and I mean always, start huge naval invasions...

I agree that it would be nice to have a Ptolemaic settlement nearer to Greece... In EB the Ptolemaics really don't care much about the Aegean, while IRL i think they even had some cities as far as Thrace under their control

did you meant **? Venice is naval invasion more like auto-spawn is scripted... :grin:

I didn't get it sorry XD
I've yet to see la Serenissima not starting a naval expedition followed by an invasion, all done by the AI without scripting...
Also it usually targets rebels and then focuses on other factions...
