Game runs poorly.

I regularly play RSII and love it. This game, however, seems to be an awesome game. But, unfortunately, it runs like ass. After reading a few of the forum posts that haven't been updated since what seems like an ancient time--more ancient than the time period in which the game takes place!

So, how do I change things around so that the game runs better? The most annoying part of this mod is the campaign map, which stutters and chugs along slowly. The only thing that seems to make the campaign speed more tolerable is to move an agent, a unit, or any other movable player-controlled object a few steps on the campaign map. At times the agents throughout my territory will become locked in a ridiculous stutter that makes the units' heads look like something out of the movie Jacob's Ladder. Any tips to help make this game more tolerable?

Have you disabled shadows on the campaign map? That really sped things up for me.

I disabled campaign shadows in the in-game menu; is there another way to disable them to make the game run better from an exterior file?

I know it helped a lot of people to go back to the vanilla water textures but I'm not sure on how to do this. Maybe do a forum search?
