Questions about advisor, latin language and native units name
I am new for Europa Barbarorum and have some question seeking an answer.
1) - How does work the advisor ? In RTW he often appears and is generous with advice. In EB, when I follow the instructions beginning a saved game (clicking on a city, enabling the advisor and click on "show me how") he disappears for ever. Which is my error ?
2) - Playing with the Romans during the battle I hear speak in the Latin language. But what I hear is a terrible pronunciation that makes one shiver (bad accents, hard and guttural tones that make it incomprehensible every word, etc.). I think that we can do better... So I ask if and where I can find the text files (not the audio files, the ones I've seen where they are) so I can eventually replace them with other similar but recorded with my voice (of course only for personal use).
3) - Similarly, I would like to replace with more understandable words (in Italian which is my native language) the names of some units of barbarian factions which - while appreciating the effort of historical research and realism - are for me really unreadable and of so difficult identification that these difficulties affect the playability of EB. Is it possible?
Thank you so much for the moment.
A greeting from Mensonchino
Re: Questions about advisor, latin language and native units name
1. Perhaps EB doesn't support advice. (I mean there's no new advice file, 'cause very few people use the advisor)
2. data/export_descr_sounds_soldier_voice.txt the bad thing is, you need to replace the voice files for each voice type.
3. unit names are in data/text/export_units.txt DO NOT change the ones in the brackets.
Re: Questions about advisor, latin language and native units name
Thanks, Coca.
I looked in the folders that you have shown me, but I have not found what I'm trying.
In the file "export_descr_sounds_soldier_voice.txt" there are a number of lines of program data for the commands in battle, but what I want is the text of the Latin spoken commands during battle, such as "equites, for aciem!" or "milites, ordines laxate! ecc.
As for the names of the units in the file "export_units.txt" are actually the names of the units, but refer to Rome Total War and not those of Europa Barbarorum with their original names in native languages.
Re: Questions about advisor, latin language and native units name
i forgot to mention something. Look in europabarbarorum/data (or the name of eb mod folder)
and about the sounds: yes, you need those commands, change the wav files to your corrected files. the command names mustn't change, they're hardcoded. what you want is changing the sounds, aren't you? EB creators changed the original ones to theirs, but left the original hardcoded names for the computer to find the correct entries of wav files.
