Another Health Thread Brought to You by Yours Truly
So here is my situation. I've been lazy lately and eating bad, but have been blaming it on a lack of time and school. Well, I went to put on my suit pants for an interview, and they were too tight for comfort. It was a kick in the *** so I decided to get back on track.
I'm going to virtually eliminate all carbs from my diet for the next few weeks to burn as much fat as possible. I will gradually introduce them back but in the form of oatmeal and other healthy carbs.
What I need help with is finding food that is low carb and filling. It's surprising hard to even find simple low carb chili at the local market. It either is loaded with sugar or other crap. So far I've come up with the following:
-Almonds
-Eggs (Omelets too... I can add varies meats/cheeses)
-Fish
-Beef
-Chicken
-Broccoli
That's it. Any other suggestions? I know we have some health nuts on here, so I'd like to hear from you guys! Thanks!

I suggest you supplement this diet by hitting the gym, lawyering up and deleting your facebook account. It will go a long way in helping you.
EDIT: Also, don't eliminate virtually all carbs. Your body still needs a good amount, trying to have your body live off its fat solely is no good.
All weight comes down to calories in > calories burned. All you have to do is flip that somehow and you will start losing weight.
Also, wait until Strike's ban is lifted before expecting any real answers.

Need a good diet?
Cashews and Milk.

Gym is a good idea.

For short periods of time it's fine. I only plan on doing this a couple weeks and then gradually introducing healthy carbs back into my diet.
Why did Strike get banned?

And I think Strike needed a timeout as Tosa would say. :balloon2::balloon2:

Lawyering up and deleting your facebook account will have more of an impact.

You really should only do that for a week tops. It seriously isn't good for your body's metabolism.

He called Vuk something like "mouth breathing philistine" in the backroom.

I agree.
Re: Another Health Thread Brought to You by Yours Truly
Eating high protein foods and continuing to be a lazy office jockey is going to make your track pants even tighter, probably burst.
Everything depends on heavily energy in, and just as heavily on energy out.
Maybe you should start with just a few standing push ups against the wall each day just before your morning tea of lamingtons and fairy dust.

The benefits of no carbs does not take effect for a couple of weeks, after your body adjusts. Then, if you eat any carbs -- ANY CARBS AT ALL -- the whole process is reset. Don't torture yourself with no carbs. A good balance of quality carbs and protien can be founds in beans. So make your own chili. Also skim milk.
Also, when you start loading up on protein don't forget to keep extra toilet paper around because your body will dump the excess like, well, you know.

Yes! Don't eliminate carbs completely, that's phooey.
Want to lose weight? Listen to me, I'm currently helping a friend drop 10 kilos:
First, you need to set a goal, how much do you want to lose in total? This month? Realistically you should aim for no more than 1.5 kilo a week.
Second, you need to document everything you put in your mouth, the calories, the amount of carbs, fat, protein, for an average day before making changes. Once you've done that it would be possible to see where you are going wrong and what changes to make.
Third, you need to exercise 3-4 times a week: an average 1 hour session being either warm-up, skipping rope exercises, sprints, cool-down or warm-up, weight session, cool-down. These two types of exercises burn more calories than useless cardio due to fact that they elevate your metabolic rate for 24 hours subsequent.
Good luck.

But but guys! Exercising is hard and painful! :laugh4:
Yeah I'm starting to agree with most of you. I'm going to try to cut out as much of the bad carbs as I can, but still eat some. I like the chili idea. I think I'll have that for dinner tonight... thanks dump.
Re: Another Health Thread Brought to You by Yours Truly
I try to get the majority of my carbs in post workout which for me is usually 7 am. The more carbs you can cut out the better but you still need some don't go all paleo on me just becuase some suit pants wouldn't fit
But if you are looking to fill the vaccum left in your diet then I have always found walnuts and almonds to work very well
Of course you should be eating all the things in your list to begin with.....

well, you can always do the following:
1-sleeep less
2-eat less fatty stuff
3-get into 18 credit hours, all of which are upper level courses.
4-spend most of your day shivering in -30 F weather.
5-go hiking/fieldtripping a lot
6-work a manual labor job managed (or surrounded, depends on the day) by complete and total incompetants.
if you follow all these steps, you should look like the scarecrow writing this :clown:
OK, seriously, a completely inoffensive name pretty much says what I think
