A Bit of a Conumdrum Here!!!!

Greetings from a very snowy Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well.

I'm playing as Venice in Lusted's mod, "Lands to Conquer Gold." The Venetian Council, in all their finite wisdom, has given me the mission to put the town of Ancona uner my protection. I'd be more than happy to do that, but Ancona belongs to the Papal States, which the Ventian Council doesn't know about or hasn't gotten the memo that this town now belongs to the Pope.

Question: Do I take the town as ordered and risk angering the Pope?

All ideas, strategies, vague notions and brainstorms will be entertained here.

You could try to purchase it from him, or swap it with him for another settlement...

You could just igonore the council as well, I do that all the time!

Do you think a swap is possible if I sent a diplomat to broker the deal? I'm sure the His Holiness is a reasonable man, n'cest pas?

Indy, you can try a trade safely enough I suppose but I would never anger the pope to appease a local council. The down sides are just too great.

Hmm...the Pope, is best when he has no land to rule, I'd take the city and any other he's got and spend the money on getting him happy again afterwards. But then I'm a warmongering megalomaniac...
