I remember this one time, when I was younger, a friend and I smoked some Mary Jane. Well, we were quite under the influence and listening to the radio. The Kansas song 'Dust in the Wind' came on, and after listening to it for a short time I started to cry! It was funny and embaressing at the same time!
These days, most pop songs make me cringe with infinite sadness as they defecate upon the sacrosanct that is music as art - As reference to the thread title, I'd consider them "songs that make me sad".
But otherwise, my 'sad songs' change rather frequently. Most recently, I do not deny that this particular track made me cry as I thought about life in general. PS: Excuse the suavely language in the name of the band.

"In the Living Years" by Mike and the Mechanics. Songs about dads dying really make me sad, I change the radio channel when it comes on.

Probably the only film to bring me close to tears. The music itself beautiful in a sort of sad way, but I also like how it works with the movie scenes with Maximus dying and him being carried out, then the camera panning out over the city.
So you must do the same for "Everything I Own"?

Genetically I'm half Japanese, but my surname is Sheridan, and there's something about the sound of Uilleann pipes playing a haunting melody that just pulls at my Heart strings.
I have to be very careful about when I listen to this song. It's quite handy when I need a deep Soul cleansing, though I usually need to wash my face after listening.

This makes me sad about the sorry state of music these days.
