How often do you get new but broken hardware?

Yes, I had such a downer today, got some new speakers from amazon, plugged them in, turned the switch to On, nothing happened.
That's it, packed them up again and am going to send them back.

I've personally had this quite often, the first iPhone 4 I got had some pixel errors on the screen, my GTX 460 is louder than my GTX 260 even though all reviews say they're quieter (both stock cooled, can't send this one back as my GTX 260 died and the shop gave me the 460 instead of the coupon the manufacturer sent back, which was worth less).

I got a cheap monitor from a friend(actually a company that went bust, monitor was still new) which has a pixel error, one black pixel that is, works a secondary but still "broken" from the beginning.

IIRC I've also had various internal computer components that were broken from the beginning, saw it with some RAM when I built a computer on a test day in a computer shop etc.

My notebook had a loose battery and other minor problems, got a replacement that I still use but it also had a few problems from the beginning with the touchpad not turning on again for a while after disabling it, USB ports just going out and the WLAN needs to be reset now and then. By now it's three years old and hasn't driven me mad yet but it does try to get on my nerves now and then and did so from the beginning.

There were also some issues and incompatibilities with my new PC when I bought it but I had the shop fix most of them, they replaced the PSU a few times and I bought a new CPU cooler because I could hear the old one make a very high-pitched noise, which apparently the guys in the shop couldn't (they're older, but they gave me a 5€ discount on the new cooler).

So what are your experiences? Do you often get broken computer parts or peripherals or am I just a magnet for broken stuff?
