Here's one 3 on 3 Sauro/Getai/Aedui vs Baktria/Rome/AS (Barbarians vs Civilized pplz)

Re: Interesting friendly fights
Hey Ovi. Could you please say which EDU this was on, since people might not know. Is this EBO MP EDU v2.0?

Re: Interesting friendly fights
A Battle (Non-Tourney) A Very Tactical battle on both parts. Me (Saka) VS. Vega (Rome). A Battle Illustrating how to beat All-Cohort roman armies (without using steppe).I'D say this is the best fought battle i ever played. REPLAY HERE: http://www.mediafire.com/?kenjst3l2a5ubm3
Basically: making the romans pay for not bringing cavalry by: harrasing army with cav eventually left half his army un supported by main army and more importantly my slingers were free to walk up to the sides and back of his army and start pelting ,the side was undefended since no shield which led to more casualties. watch the replay to see slingers being used to great effect.
P.S you might want to take advantage of the fast forward button Rome has to offer. and watch all over the map cuz there's action going on every where, watch the forest.

Re: Interesting friendly fights
The indo iranian heavy cavalry are HORRIBLY cost inefficent, better to get Alans, Yeuzhi Early noble, Iranian Light, or Saka cataphracts.

Re: Interesting friendly fights
Fun 2v2 we fought yesterday. http://www.mediafire.com/?zx41fpc94uue9pe
Me (Saba) and Stormrage (Saka) against Aga (AS) and TCV (Hai). The battle is interesting to note as in one player on each team beat his opponent rather handily but was then faced with the other across the field. Playing as Saba, I brought elephants and I think this is a good display of how to use them if your opponent brings the proper counters. Ended up with a mad finish with elephants throwing men everywhere and racking up obscene kill counts, even if it was in vain being tired out and bogged down.
Also note at the outset of the battle, a way to effectively deal with Cantabrian Circle HA.

WARNING!!! Do not try this at home !!! The evidence that against cheap tactik you canot respond in a different manner ...So against the stupid KUVANI KURAC of Gaius(AKA Voltaire) an VEGA we ( AGATHODAIMON - AS & RandomerIO - Pontos) just surround their fully cohors army with our phaalnxes and cohors by cohors have been diminished by our catas...Yeah this happened after years but you know we wil boasting with it for at least the same time

I need to watch this one, I also played Vega twice that night as Saka and I got beaten each time, the first time was steppe and the second time non steppe.

Re: Interesting friendly fights
My apologies to Vega, don't mean to bully.
Some players were wondering the various ways to beat the 14-19 legionary in guard unit armies, so I just thought I would post one such method. Next time of course, I will ask for permission before posting of course.
-
Re: Interesting friendly fights
Now now guys, that is enough, bullying is not good, and I doubt Vega is going to like you all posting replays here without permission.
----------
Excellent example of fear tactics and proper utilisation of morale boosters, exemplifies Keltoi dominance in the infantry battlefield.

Edited the above post.

Re: Interesting friendly fights
So I'm guessing the only way of sharing tactics to beat some really controversial builds if the opponent does not want you to post the replay...is to simply write about what you did. Hey, it's not too bad of a compromise. You could even draw pictures in MS Paint and share battle formation diagrams and movements!
-
Re: Interesting friendly fights
No, without the enemies permission, it is simply unethical, no matter how douchey said enemy is.
-
Re: Interesting friendly fights
Hm? I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with, Lazy, but you don't need your enemy's permission to share your own tactic. Just don't reveal the enemy's identity and it's fine.

A note should be made that the owner of the Cantabrian Circle HA was me, and that's as well as saying the AI was controlling it. Possibly worse.

Re: Interesting friendly fights
I don't think complete censorship of the freedom of sharing information helpful to all is wise...but that's just me. I'm all for sharing. Why do you think I let you download everybody's official tournament replays?

Haha, well the general concept remains. Use a lighter unit to get them to skirmish away. Some light units can catch them, especially light cav, if your opponent is not paying close enough attention.
The real killer tactic though is this, which I did use. When HA's go into CC you of course tell your archers to either hold fire or target elsewhere as the arrows won't connect. However, when chasing away the horsies, they come out of the circle and are susceptabile to archer fire. If you time it properly, you can target your archers on them about a second or two before the horses skirmish away and they will connect with the now exposed backs of the horse archers, causing devestating casualties and often a rout.

Re: Interesting friendly fights
BSR you realize you just gave away the key to destroying HAs in CC on EBO? HA faction players are going to be devastated!
-
Re: Interesting friendly fights
Good, fewer wins for LazyO. We're all looking up to him right now.:2thumbsup:
On a related note, I made this sound much easier than it really is to pull off. It's a simplified solution to a much more complex and fluid situation than I let on.

Re: Interesting friendly fights
You do realise most of the time my HA dont even get in the archer fight unless absoloutely necessary ? :D :D :D And Saka HA are so long range that any unit sent to chase them will be destroyed. Btw vartan, what of my battle vs Burebista?

I recommend light HAs, because light cav usually got shot before they can even make those HAs turn to normal formation!

Re: [EB] Interesting friendly fights
Hi,
How do I view these replays? Do I have to switch to SP mode?
-
Re: [EB] Interesting friendly fights
No, what you do is that you download the right EDU and the MP replay mod and install both. Then you start EB up as if you were going to play MP, and then load that replay.
You can find the replay mod here. You can also find the EDU version 2.1.1 there, but that should only be for the last replay that Vega uploaded (as well as all the replays in the current, August tournament). The other ones in here I believe were played with EDU version 2.0, and so that's what you would want to view those.

Exactly. The Load Replay Mod simply adds the otherwise missing 'load game' option in the main menu of EB's MP mode. And I think in a thread like this it would be fantastic if people indicated which EDU version their replay was fought with.
