Some good easy listening music for a romantic date
I'm planning a romantic date at my house. You know, some some food and afterwards a boardgame or a movie, ...
Of course there has to be good (fitting) music in the background.
My choices so far:
Les filles du bord de mer - Arno
Hotel lounge - Deus
Don't look back in anger - Oasis
Le plat pays - Jacques Brel
Glory box - Portishead
Ahead by a century - Tragically hip
Sherry Fraser - Marcy's playground
The drugs don't work - The Verve
Teardrop - Massive attack
Our daily reminders - Zita Swoon
Nantes - Beirut
Envoi - Absynth minded
Never forget you - Noisettes
Heartbeat - José Gonzalez
...
Let's see what you guys come up with.

Re: Some good easy listening music for a romantic date
I would play anything classical. Harp, piano, violin. Just something without lyrics to accompany your conversation.
-
Re: Some good easy listening music for a romantic date
And here you are thinking that I'm good at conversation.
Besides, a date is all about presenting yourself and getting to know the other. Classical music is not something I play very often.
-
Re: Some good easy listening music for a romantic date
Ha ha! I don't claim to be good at conversation either, but I might find myself straying from my company as I listen to the lyrics. Especially if it is music I am fond of.

How about "Candy Shop by 50cents"?
-
Re: Some good easy listening music for a romantic date
im not twelve. and im not with hookers.
also candyshop is incredibly degrading to women.
That song while dirty is not really degrading.

OK, I like Little Dragon. This is something to look into further.
Centurion, classical hero, I absolutely hate R&B and I don't regard hiphop/rap much higher.

I also considered Sex and candy by Marcy's playground or just play some soft saxophone in the background but that would be a bit to obvious.

Air on the G string (Bach)
turn the volume low, and 100% succes.

Re: Some good easy listening music for a romantic date
Paramore - The Only Exception
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
Avril Lavigne - I Love You
Bloc Party -This Modern Love
Kings of Leon - Sex On Fire
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
Dido - White Flag
Savage Garden - Truly, Madly, Deeply
Shakira - Underneath Your Clothes
Norah Jones - Don't Know Why
Howie Day - Collide
Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
Hoobastank - The Reason
Coldplay - The Scientist
Sixpence None The Richer -Kiss Me
U2 - All I Want Is You
I tried to avoid the 'classics' like Bryan Adams and the Righteous Brothers... I'm sure my stuff won't be to everyone's liking, though. :P

Nice suggestion Andres and Ronin. I believe I have both CD's in my car.
A good list you got there Secura. Your suggestions do reveal your gender, if I may say so.
What I also thought of:
Set the fire to the third bar - Snow Patrol & Martha Wainwright
Seemann - Rammstein
My angel Gabriel - Lamb
All I need - Air

I can't get enough of this song. I heard it as background music on one of the Michelle Phan makeup tutorials. Yes, I watch those, because her and her sister are hot and have really pleasant voices.

I get a really 'late night/early morning between drunk an sober'-vibe from that song.

Glad to have been of some help! I'm sure there's gentlemen out there that would listen to that sort of stuff too, though... even if few will admit it. :P

Why would you want anyone to talk through a conversation?

Ronin, you wouldn't be a QOTSA now would you? I must admit I liked them ever since I saw their first gig in Belgium.

Can't go wrong with Soundgarden https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waX1AGPtyto
Cuts out the foreplay and goes straight to the point.

now for something different, so you can impress the lady with your international music tastes...something from my neck of the woods.

Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?
In 1987, Huey released "Fore!", their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is Hip To be Square. It's so catchy that most people don't even listen to the lyrics, but they should! Because it's not just about the dangers of conformity and the importance of trends, its also a personal statement about the band itself.
