This is a known bug and CA are working on fixing it.
Apparently there is also a work around that should work now:
When the game crashes, the host takes the autosave file and sends it to the other player. The other player replaces his autosave file with the one he got from the host and then they should be in sync again and able to continure playing from the status of the last autosave.
I have not tried it myself, but others have reported that this works and allows them to complete their game (even if they have to do it several times).

i suppose u could just continue as host and host the same game again with the current autosave process... is that what u mean?

you have to share the files manually to keep the games in sync
