Workin' for the Man

Just got a new, better job, so I'm feeling quite studly. I know lots of folks are unemployed or doing two to six part-time thing-ma-bobs, but this is the real deal. Me so happy. Sorry for anybody who's suffering in the Great Recession, but things is looking up in Casa Lemur. (And my special lady has found a petting zoo where you can manhandle lemurs. Must. Go. Soon.)

It is this that I must truly congratulate you on. There is just so much right with this statement.

Congratulations! I was lucky enough to get into a "real" job nearly two years ago, after just as much time since getting my degree looking for one. It does feel good. :yes:

Of course, I have likely layoffs to look forward to next year, but in the meantime it's nice. :creep:

It's actually a full-time copywriting gig, with some other duties thrown in, at a very successful multimedia firm in Chi-town. I get to telecommute, which means I can continue to raise my little lemurs by hand. It's the right job in the right field under the right conditions, which goes a long way toward explaining why I think it's a huge improvement. And the extra money doesn't make me sad neither.

You have no idea the level of skill, training and commitment required to insert the © after product names. It takes YEARS of dedication. Himalayan monasteries are involved. Most of us are selected as children and given to the priesthood.

Yup, almost all of my corporate work is classified as "work for hire," which means I hold no copyright to the stuff I scribble. Can't imagine what I would do with the copyright anyway. It's not as though anyone's going to make a movie out of that kick-ass pharma pamphlet I wrote.
