Gauls Epeirus Alliance - Notes

The Gauls Epeirus Alliance scripted event apparently can work just fine. I was able to lead a mostly mercenary army to capture both Ak-Ink and Vindobonna with the help of the pop-up Epeirote army led by Skepas whose bodyguard is a golden chevron thorakitai unit. It seems that in order for the small contingent led by Skepas to reinforce you as you attack the towns you have to make sure that a few conditions are met.

1. You need spies behind the wall to open the gates.
2. You need to find yourself and Skepas next to the town at the same time.
3. You need to NOT besiege the town but storm the wall with the spies opening the gates (after steps 1 and 2)

I was watching as Skepas was taking a strawl at the central European countryside only to be returned (magically) to a square next to the town of interest at the beginning of the next turn. This happened when my army had entered hostile territory, was heading for the towns in question and was set to attack.

Note: you might have to wait one turn after the first time your army and the epeirote contingent are next to the town in a position to attack it. Remember to not besiege the town as this will result in Skepas’ abstaining from the attack.

This scripted event adds a very interesting twist to the development of the Gallic campaign since normally after defeating your gallic rivals (Arverni or Aedui) and conquer rebel gauls in the vicinity you probably end up fighting the Roman hydra for quite a while and that can be somewhat boring. It was not my intention but I had to level Italia just to keep them from attacking me all the time even at impossible odds.
