Stars out of the blue

I would like to describe a curious thing that happened to me in my last Turkish campaign.
When heir apparent prince Suleiman came of age, I regretfully noted his zero command rating which meant that I couldn't use him as a general. Knowing that all new sultans ascended the throne in Constantinople I moved him there to wait for the death of his father at 56. A relevant thing to mention: next in line to the throne (may I call him heir presumptive?) was Suleiman's uncle Selim (command rating 7) who all this time had his headquarters in Castilla. Suleiman's three younger brothers were under 16, the age difference between Suleiman and the second brother Aibag (nicknamed ipad) being 20 years precisely.
When the old sultan died I noticed in Constantinople two units of Sipahis: the royal one headed by Suleiman IV with SEVEN stars and Selim's one (no more heir to the throne) with zero command rating. :stunned: It looked like they exchanged their stars that is Selim gave his nephew the seven stars he had had.
Well, what do you think of that? Have you ever had (or spotted) anything like that?

Well, I'd say you got confused and that Suleiman was the 7 star general all along, except that it does not explain how Selim got to Constantinople, so it can't be that.

The closest I've ever seen was in STW when one of my heirs was shy and refused to take command of a unit for a few turns after he came of age, and even that isn't much like what you saw.

I'm sure I couldn't have been mistaken about Suleiman's initial lack of stars. I'm very meticulous about this aspect of heirs and kings so I remember vividly my disappointment at seeing heir apparent without any stars.

Beats me then. I guess a nice surprise sort of makes up for the disappointment though, huh?

Yeah, that's almost certainly a bug/glitch. I can only guess it's related to multiple heirs to the throne being in the same place when the old leader dies, but as to exactly how/why it occurred is a mystery.

At least it worked out for you, though!

They weren't in the same place - Suleiman was in Constantinople and Selim was in Castilla.
