Why can't we have a tree in our house all year long?
Why do we only have a tree in our house during Christmas? They smell awesome, they are aesthetically pleasing and it brings an element of nature into the house.
I want a tree in my house all year long.

Sure why not, step one, dig a 4 meter deep hole in your house for the soil

Once you own your own house feel free to do what you like, until then do what you're told.

if you live in the humid tropic, you'll notice and really hate that you must clear your roof periodically or there could be tree growing on top of your house

Probably because they die after a few weeks.

If you want a brown, shedding fire hazard lying around your house go ahead. I won't be surprised when your next Frontroom title reads "My house burned down and I blame Vladimir."

Herp derp you guys, you don't let the tree die or dig a hole in your house. You convert one of your rooms into a giant sandbox but instead of sand, there is nutrient rich soil. I thought this all out guys, come on now.

Right up to the point where the tree wins the battle with:
(a) the floor
(b) the roof
(c) both.
For everything else there's concrete rot.

Re: Why can't we have a tree in our house all year long?
And the roof needs to be glass. Trees tend to need sunlight.

A. You put a plastic liner above the concrete foundation to prevent rot.
B. You don't get a BIG tree. You either get a baby tree and have it grow until it's too big and needs to be chopped down OR you get a type of tree that doesn't get that large in the first place.
If there is a will, there is a way. I have the will. That's logic.

Well yeah, that shouldn't be a problem if you are re-doing the room for the tree to begin with.

Well in that case I say heck yea why not? When I was a kid I had this fantasy where I was going to fill my room with soil and plant tropical trees and have parrots and stuff living in my room. Someday when I'm a billionaire I'm gonna take my 30% after tax income and fulfill that dream.

Doesn't work like that, thick roots are just to channal the nutritions that the 'hairs' pick up, and they pick these up deep. Tree will starve, take tree, meassure height, multiply with 4. That is +/- how much soil it needs

Well ****. Looks like I gotta do plan B: hanging vines from all the ceilings.

Because trees have rights and you can't lock up innocent trees for your own pleasure! Which is why civilised people like me have a plastic tree.

That's true. There's an EU convention somewhere that granted Arboreal Rights. You can't just kill them; it takes a considerable donation to Brussels.

Trees should be out of doors. They suffer from lack of sunlight depression like many people do in the gloom of indoors too long. A happy tree is a health tree, that is what I always say.
