Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
So I've got four options: Athens, Rome, Prague and Budapest. Which are definitely worth it? What are the pro's or cons. Anything else I should know before going.
Note I've been in Rome before but only for a single day or something (don't remember well actually). Also how is Athens are there still a lot of strikes or other stuff going on there due to the crisis that could negatively influence a possible trip?
Thanks in Advance!
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Voted Gah because it was stronger than myself.
I went to Prague somewhere in 1999 and it was, in one word: awesome.
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Voted Budapest, but Prague is another good choice: all the people I know, that went to eastern Europe, had mad fun...
Rome as an Italian, I say meh :P
Athens, never been there unfortunately...
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
athens is nice! all the options sound equally fun to me :P
can add berlin and barcelona too if you havent been there
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
totally Prague. not as visited as Rome, but just as awesome.
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Having been to none of those places, I would say Prague. I heard its dirt cheap and a blast.
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Come visit me down under mate! We'll grab some frothies, atm it's hot as all holy hell! A cold one will go down very nicely.
(But voted Athens because I have family there, maybe go have a beer with them instead...)
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
You get your butt to Athens right now and spend until this Euro crisis is over.
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Athens is smelly. Rome is a little meh. Why not the Dalmatian Coast if you want the Mediterranean?
Prague is fantastic!
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Definetly Prague. I never heard a bad word about Prague.
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Prague, don't expect it to be cheap anymore mind you
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Prague it is. I have ordered the plain tickets and all. I'll leave the 26th of April.
Things I should visit that I might miss or that aren't that well known? I was thinking of going to the opéra there as well, costs only €15 apparently.
About it being cheap, well it is said not be dirt cheap anymore like in the old days, but it's still cheaper than West-Europe. Also as Belgium is one of the most expensive countries anyway, that isn't quite the problem.
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
Don't forget to take lot's of photo's and show them off here.
Re: Where should I go to as my next holiday trip?
gah!
been to none of the above, so while they are no doubt awesome i will have to recommend malta (valetta).

Why, from what I've been told, all Prague is a tourist attraction :clown:
the best places I know about are Vitus cathedral, wherever the crown jewels of the Bohemians, Wenceslas square, the Dancing House, anything to do with Kafka, and wherever building it was where the two Catholic dudes were thrown overboard, starting the 30 years war. and if you are into it, there is a battlefield not far from Prague, where Frederick II won a battle, and one of his Generals, Kurt Christoph von Schwerin fell (1757). you might find Schwerin's death marker, around where he fell in said battle.
oh, and Prague castle.
EDIT: Hradčany castle was where the two catholics got hurled.
EDIT2: ooh, and where Reinhard Heydrich got bombed. srsly, this place has soo much :wall:

Word of warning on Athens. Some days you cannot do anything as absolutely everything is shut down due to strike action.

Then it was a good choice. Thanks for a great reply.

Loved Malta. Easy to get around and some beatiful spots to visit. Visit a fish restaurant at the fish market.
I wouldn't go longer than 1 week as it's a small island.
