New player - a few questions
Hi! I'm a new player for EB Online, I don't have too much experience with the mod itself but I think that I manage some basics of tactics (At least!), anyway, I think I got my hands on this forum like five or four years too late (or maybe not! :D).
First, I would like to say that I'm really eager to play some friendly battles in the game, I don't get really anger when I lost so you guys can abuse of my incompetence if you want an ego boost :)
Second, I was reading some topics to get familiarizated with all the things but I can't get the meaning of 'HA', what it is? Huge Army? High Armoured?
Third, I would like to know what factions are actually balanced in the current EDU, as I saw some units with akward stats compared to another ones (not big deal, as they were merc or something I think).
Well, that is, thanks beforehand.
Greetings.

Re: New player - a few questions
Hello Nacrox, welcome to EB Online!
To answer your questions, HA stands for Horse Archer and all factions are currently playable except for the Saka Rauka. EB's stat system (well, Gamegeek's :p) as I gather is rather different from most other mods (including vanilla), so perhaps that's what throws you off?

Re: New player - a few questions
The latest version of the stat system is not finished quite yet.
BTW Viking could you upload the latest build of the system for me as well as your current export_units file? I want to restart working on a finalized 3.0 from a fresh copy.

Do you mean with or without Shak's fixes?

I meant, I'm not really veteran on RTW, but I have played anothers tactics games like Close Combat, Combat Mission, and stuff (however, those games are more like spearhead/firepower tactics than counter-maneuver tactics from RTW :P)

That one doesn't include all the files though, like mine does. ~;)

He needs to download 1001 from my site (EBO), then copy onto it this 1001d by Shak. That would make "all the files".

Re: New player - a few questions
Sure he can do that, though again he'd save some steps by just downloading my upload since that's exactly what I had done. The only problem would be if I had fingered with them in between... and you trust I wouldn't do that, right? :p

Re: New player - a few questions
I think that an IRC Chat would come handy in this situation (as they have like 255 of clients max, and one leave it when disconnects), with a link in the forums to make the explorer that we use open it

I've been meaning to add chat to the site actually. In the meantime I have two networks up (you can find them listed), and Shak's got an aux network too. Especially important with recent cuts to the free slots.
EDIT: Alright. I made a chat page on the site for those interested.

Well, time for everyone to switch to IRC, or get back on evolve :D

Re: New player - a few questions
But the Evolver program worked? Because I asked it and some people said that It didn't worked for more than 2 players (so no 2v2 or 3v3 for example)
-
Re: New player - a few questions
It did not work, but the developer was interested, so we do not know .

You guys need to get on Evolve or else we're never going to get past the unnecessary limitations of Hamachi. Dreijer's working hard and he's hoping to work with us again so as to finally end any remaining bugs.

Re: New player - a few questions
Well so it's a good thing I didn't uninstall Evolve :))

Re: New player - a few questions
The main network has been full for two or three days, we need to do something. I mean, seriously, I'm losing my temper, and I need to play or I will start swinging invisible swords and shields in the street while walking, or even start to charge against mobs of people, pushing them and trying to make them rout with some awkward celtic moves.
I suggest myself as a auxiliary helping guy to free some slots in the night when there is nobody connected at my local hour. Or even better, select two or three -veteran- guys to help Vartan with the management of the network.
Thanks.

Yes. I'm paying people $5 USD every time they get on Evolve cause we need testers. ... Okay maybe I'm not. But I don't have more than 2 arms. I can't test it myself! My hands are full... I'm sorry about the full networks. Hamachi got us down to 8 recently and it's annoying but it is my understanding that Evolve works at least on a 1v1 level.

Re: New player - a few questions
Can you log on when the network is full Vartan? Kicking people who are non-responsive would be helpful.
-
Re: New player - a few questions
Is there a possibility of giving kickability to someone else so that when you're not around someone else can do that for you? Right now there are 3 offline and 1 unresponsive in the network. That's 50% wasted space right there.
People! Please leave the network before you log off. It's not that difficult.
Edit: maybe I shouldn't have said that. Now there's 5 offline and 1 unresponsive. For effing sake.

Re: New player - a few questions
Not really possible methinks . A good solution would be the chat network. Though nobody is ever on .
-
Re: New player - a few questions
Yes, it's possible, as the networks can be controlled from the Hamachi webpage
You just need to register the network with an user, and then log in in the LogMeIn Hamachi 2 webpage with it, you should be capable of kicking users without the necessity of login in it.
Also, this is the problem of going mainstream people! We need to keep beeing underground and unfamous! =P
