Focus on... Yakuza! (Mafia game) - Concluded
Game is built around Yakuza role.
Basics: The Yakuza is a regular mafia player with an extra power: they may sacrifice themselves from the second night (during the night) and choose an innocent to join the mafia.
Game has open setup (all roles and their number are known):
2x yakuza. They can kill one person per night (unless this person is protected) as a mafia kill. Instead of kill, starting on night 2, one of them can ‘yak’: he kills himself, and targeted player becomes mafia member(there is no mafia kill this night; the only dead person is yakuza player himseif). Everyone can be targeted and there is no way to stop it. The second yakuza can use his ability later, in place of another mafia kill. If yakuza is protected while ‘yaking’, he is alive AND his target becomes mafia! Yakuza can, then, ‘yak’ another player at following night. All townies (including policeman) can be 'yaked'.
Mafia member (none at start): can perform mafia kill (one kill for entire mafia per night)
1x cop. First scan gives results: Innocent (guaranteed Innocent at the moment of a scan); suspicious (can be mafia, but some townies also scan suspicious). Remember that being innocent at, for example, night 3 does not guarantee that this person will be innocent later! Second scan gives 100% accurate info: mafia or town. (with the exeption: if player is scanned for a first time when town, and for a second time AFTER he becomes mafia, the result would be "suspicious")
1x cop assistant. Becomes cop after death of original one (or when original one is 'yaked' - so he WILL know that original cop is now a mafia member). Scans Innocent at first scan.
1x bodyguard. Can protect another character, but if that character is attacked, bodyguard dies. Scan suspicious at first scan. CANNOT protect against being 'yaked'.
11 townies, 5 of them scans suspicious at first scan.
Rules:
1. vote in format: Jarema
2. you do not have to unvote
3. no lynch is not a legal vote
4. if someone is not voting two times in a row, he would be warned. If someone is not voting three times in a row, he would be WoGed
5. no direct quoting of any messages from me or other players
6. no screenshots
7. you can claim whatever role you want. But you cannot even hint abotu things llike lenght of your role PM, or time when you got it
8. communication in private is allowed

Yes, I remember being a Yakuza once. It would be delightful to be one again...

In
But uh... I should warn you I've never played internet mafia before, I have however read through some threads and played mafia in real life (Coincidentally I first played mafia at a hostel in Japan... so we called it Yakuza. Which makes this a pretty symbolic place to start my internet mafia career.)

Re: Focus on... Yakuza! (Mafia game) - signups
Nice to have you here, SalmonSoil :)
Internet mafia is pretty different from 'normal' one (I have played and hosted both, but a lot more of 'normal').
Especially, it gives two things: time (no rush to answer, can take a couple hours break) and private communication (in 99% of live mafia games, there is no possiblioty for communication between two players in private; and here, it sometimes becomes very important). It takes away one important thing (at least) - reading body language and mimic of other players. It frustrates me to no end sometimes.
Feel free to ask any questions :)

I'm a little anti-cop roles, but as you have made all roles open and transparent it bothers me less. I very much like the idea of 'Yak'ing :D
Please count me in :2thumbsup:

This game is build around chosen role (yakuza). In order for yakuza's abilities to shine, there is need for a scanning role and for a protecting role. After some thoughts about balance, I decided for an exact setup of roles you can all see

Little Rock Town.
Beautiful, peaceful town at the western seashore of United States.
...
peaceful?
not really. At least, no longer.
One of Inagawa-kai clan members decided, that it would be a good place for running overseas busness and becoming oyabun himself. Of course, before major center of operations could be established, local population must be subdued. Oyabun, yearning for glory and honour, decided to take care of this himself. He took with him only one of his most trusted servants, a kobun of him, and moved into Little Rock Town.
Of course, local population does not marvel at it. Especially, crime gangs.
Leaders of different, small crime organizations from Little Rock Town form so called 'Crime Council'. In this council, there is also a place for influential, corrupted members of local authorities. When Council members heard about yakuza plans for their city, they decided to act. Unfortunately, they realized that yakuza members are already among them!
Not knowing who is who in their organization (for better level of conspiracy, they were always wearing masks), they decided to vote and lynch one of their own at the end of every day...
OOC:
Role PM's sent.
Vanilla townies will NOT get any role PM. If you did not get any role pm, thern you are vanilla townie.
Can someone change the name of this topic into "in play" instead of "signups"?
Day one officially begins.
At day one, absolute majority of votes is needed to lynch someone (9 votes).
