Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
I'm sure there are many people who are going to be spending a lot of time playing Diablo 3 over the next few months. Well, Diablo games are far more fun in groups than alone. And groups are more fun when the other players are your friends instead of random strangers. So, I'd like to set up an Org gaming group for Diablo 3. To be honest, it's been so long since I logged onto Battle.net that I can't even remember how the system works, but I do recall that it's got a friending option, which presumably can be used to find people for Diablo 3 games.
So, post in here with the proper contact info if you're interested in playing Diablo 3 with other Orgahs. I'll certainly be there on a regular basis starting on launch day.

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
The commercial looks grand, but a little Final Fantasy. I'll have to read game reviews. Still addicted to Minecraft and remember the cartoonish clickfest that was Diablo 2.

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
I'll probably be getting the console version, but otherwise I'm in. Kinda sad there is no Palladin-class, awesome with coop to boost other peoples stats.

Not only Diablo 3 friends, Battle.net account will tie you up with all your friends playing either Starcraft 2 or World of Warcraft.
I have no idea how much time I'll have for D3, but if I get the bug, I'll be contacting the folks here.

Torchlight 2 > Diablo 3
Just sayin'

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
Well, my tag will be Tiaexz, however I will have to see how the battletag system works but if you are interested TC and if we can actually play (doubtful, unfortunately. I think US, EU and Asia are seperate) then I am free to hook up.

Actually, for Diablo 3, you can play with anyone in any region. The catch is that you can't use characters from one region in a different region. That's not great, but it's better than nothing I suppose.

Actually, it isn't.
Its only half the price. :on_lalala:
Many angry Blizz fans are aiming at Torchwood right now. I'll have 'em both, just sayin'.

Oohh... jealous. I'm tempted, but unfortunately I have to actually get things done tomorrow. No work on Friday though, so I will play until my eyes bleed then.

GameStop just texted me that it will be ready to pick up in an hour, but I'm gonna forgoe that mess and get it in the afternoon. I still like to play a little SWTOR from time to time, so not sure how much time I will have for this D3 business, but I definitely got the bug

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
Got to play for an hour before work today (GAH!). I like the art style, and it's very enjoyable to be back in a Diablo game again. I'm unsure how I feel about the skill system so far, but I'm neutral bordering on optimistic rather than pessimistic. My main concern is that there won't be enough variety in it, though I've unlocked a couple things, so I won't really get a good picture of it until later. Regardless, it's hard to go wrong with the click-reward-click-reward system.

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
Preordered this last week. Alas, I probably won't get to play until the weekend. :sweatdrop:

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
Had some good fun with MRD last night. I'd like to propose something of an Org swap-meet for old equipment. If you've got rare, unique, or set items that you do not plan on using (and you have the space to store them), post them here for other Org players who might be able to make use of your hand-me-downs.
I've got a low-level (8ish) rare wand that's pretty decent, if anyone is starting a wizard.

I'll be on later today, still working my way through Tristram Cathedral. Got a monk build going, as Paladin was always my favorite in D2.

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
I've already started my Hardcore character, and I am farther along than with my normal and having very much fun. I have my crafting up pretty high so if anyone starts HC and needs some stuff built then hit me up.... I really wish this game had in-game email so we could send messages.....
Not enjoying the witch doctor at all, but I hate starting over so I will see it through. My HC is a monk because, um, heals are good in HC
-
Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
I started a witch doctor in Normal with the intention to play it like a HC char, so far (halfway past Act III Normal) I've died twice. Once against Belial and once against some mobs with some kind of movement control ability (vortex). Considering that I soloed the entirety of D2 Hardcore with a Necromancer without aid or items outside the game, this is not going so well. Still, the witch doctor is, unfortunately, more about direct damage than minions, so perhaps it's not a very good character for soloing HC.
I wonder if mobs get multiple abilities in later difficulties - how about jailer, vortex, lightning enchanted? ~D

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
The auction house is kind of hilarious at the moment. People have no idea what things should cost, so asking prices are absurd. I like the idea of the system, but it needs much better sorting. In particular, why can't I sort by current bid price? If I want to buy a specific item (i.e. legendary, which are all identical), it would be really useful to be able to find the one I can slap the lowest bid on. Yet I can only sort by buyout price... that's wrong. I hope they improve the system much more in the future.

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
I'm loving this game. I'm playing as a Demon Hunter. Dual wielding crossbows - hell yeah!

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
I've become somewhat fascinated with the auction house recently. The majority of sellers do not appear to understand how to properly price items, so it's hard to find things that are worth buying. However, the general lack of decent pricing seems to make it relatively easy to sell. I've sold about 7 items so far, for a total of about 40k. I may be undervaluing them a bit, but they sell quick and that return is a lot more than I would have gotten for the goods from the merchants. In addition, it's totally pointless to craft gems of Radiant quality or below. It costs 3500 gold to craft a Radiant quality gem, but you can buy them on the auction house for between 500 and 1000 gold, depending on whims of the market at any particular moment. Every tier below that is similarly cheaper to buy at auction than to craft yourself.

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
Sounds like WoW AH all the way.
No, I won't be playing Diablo 3 any time soon, got things to do, games to review, I might get around to it at some later point, and I didn't drop by to bash the game or troll the thread, just an idle remark on how most MMO economies (oh, and how much of an MMO is Diablo 3, actually!?!) are disconnected from the "real game world". Been playing WoW for years, honestly, forgot all about Diablo games, played only occasionally, Starcraft was my poison of choice. After all, I better do ask, is Diablo all grind and gathering, how important is crafting? Are the best items drops or are they player crafted?
Personally, I don't think any MMO will come close to EVE Online in making a realistic and very engaging economic system.

Thanks for this tip; I've been completely avoiding the auction houses in favor of doing my own thing, but hearing about the odd prices has made me go to town on some of the gems.
Actually quite surprised that nearly a week in and the market hasn't come close to correcting itself yet.

It seems largely like a perk for getting better equipment immediately, in exchange for resource investment. I do not see any difference between the quality of crafted items and the quality of found items. It is, essentially, just a way to intentionally have the game generate a random item for you of X quality, instead of farming it yourself. Whether that is worth it or not would depend on how many resources you are willing to spend on generation of items which could come up with stats that are not desirable. If I had to identify one area where it seemed like it would be more worthwhile, it would probably be for quickly outfitting new characters with decent enough gear to level them up quickly.

I have a feeling that the gem pricing is due to the nature of gem drops. I'm in the middle of nightmare and getting Perfect gem drops, so it makes sense that those would sell at less than their crafting value since they didn't cost anything to create. I have a feeling that Radiant gems must be dropping at higher levels as well, or the current pricing makes no sense at all. There are massive price jumps for all levels above Radiant, with many not even available for sale at any price, so I'm guessing that Radiant is the highest level that can be obtained without crafting.

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
The crafting is a godsend on hardcore when I need that little extra something right before a boss fight. Sometimes you know you are lacking in a stat, and crafting a few of the same item to try to meet your need is a good idea. However, the secondary crafting component -- the teeth -- are hard to come by (about 10% of breakdowns) so for unique items the wanton crafting can be a little more costly.
The prices in the HC AH go from borderline ridiculous to utterly absurd
Also, sorry for not playing with any of you guys, but I wanted my first playthrough of the campaign to be on hardcore. The friends I were playing with (excluding TinCow) were simply going to fast for me. I would understand this if it was their 4th toons, but this was like day effin two. Slow down....enhjoy the show....admire the graphics....

Maybe things are different in hardcore, but in softcore I'm pretty sure you get a secondary component when you recycle a rare item 100% of the time. So, recycle poor rares to craft new ones. Sell good rares on the auction house (or save them for use by another character).

Re: Diablo 3 Org Gaming Group
Currently I'm a level 27 Wizard, playing on normal. This is my first venture into the Diablo series (I have no idea how I missed all the fuss made over the first two games?!) and so far I am enjoying it immensely.
I do have a question about the auction house if someone can help me? I had a quick look at the gold exchange auction house (I don’t want to pay real money for these items!) and I noticed when I was about to make a bid, that there was a 15% transaction fee. Now is this 15% of the gold you bidding or is it real money? What is the point of this if it is gold? I couldn’t get my head around this at all.

15% of the gold you bid, unles you are in the real money auction house, where they take $1 per transaction I believe.

I'm pretty sure the point is to act as yet another gold sink (basically, a deflationary mechanism). The auction house handles gold transactions that are much larger than anything else in the game, so taking a cut out of those transactions is far more effective at reducing the amount of gold in circulation than the other in-game gold sinks.
