Greek Classical Hoplite?

Is it just me or is the spears of the "ClassicalHoplite" way too long. Im by no means an expert on ancient warfare but from what I know the Standard Hoplite spear was just a little bit taller than an average man but In EB they are almost twice as tall and when the Hoplites march the spin them around and they clip horribly into the ground.

Why don't the "Classical Hoplite" use the same animation as the "Illyrian Thureoporoi" (The ones without any armor) Their spear animation is close to perfect as they march with the stabby end upwards instead of down as with the "Classical Hoplite" I think the standard "Thureoporoi" has the same problem. Again why do they not have the same animation as the "Illyrian Thureoporoi" Am I the only one noticing this or have I just completely missed some fact about ancient warfare that states the "Classical Hoplite" use spears about 2 meters long?

The classical dory is about 9-11 feet long, with the longest ones reaching 12 ft. So for a stocky person of 5'8", the spear would be just a hair longer than double his height.

Well that clears up one issue. But there is still the matter of why they spin the spears around when they march so that they clip into the ground. Why dont they use the same animation as Illyrian thureoporoi? Same goes for the Standard Thureoporoi and thorakitai. It may not seem like a big problem but for me the little things are what makes or breaks a game (or mod). Don't get me wrong, I love EB but I just don't see why the animation isn't done right.

I think that only one unit per faction can use a given animation skeleton. This doesn't explain why they didn't make similar ones though (or copies). Who knows?
