Edit unit weapons

I have an attraction to the Komatai Thorakitai, Dacian Heavy Phalanx, i think they look pretty darn cool. One thing is they are a "phalanx" and have these nice long spears but they just don't use them (unless attacking a unit, but i like to use them in guard mode like other phalanx/hoplite units while i go around). If a unit attacks them in guard mode they keep the spears pointed forward and not attacking, but when an enemy soldier gets close they draw their sica and fight with that, usually 1 man on 1 man. My question is, how would i edit this? i did it before on RTW but with poor results and i really dont wanna screw up and make EB not work somehow. Is there anyway to make them use their spears and not their sica?

A phalangitai unit in guard mod will still use their swords/axes for defence purposes if attacked from the flanks or rear. The Hoplites, except the Massilians, and few others, do not have a secondary weapon at all ( exactly for the purpose to prevent them from using swords ). For the Dacians to use their spears all the time, they´ll secondary weapons would have to be removed from the unit. You could edit the export_describe_unit.txt file to do so, but i´m not sure if their animation, the 3d model, would work with this changes approprietly. The Dacians adopted the Greek "phalanx" ( not the phalangitai = the Macedonian style ), yes, but afaik they do more or less imitate it, rather than use it to a full degree.

So, if I'm correct, there is a line of text that holds their secondary weapon, I should just delete that right?

Not just delete, but take a look at a similar line for another Hoplite units with no sec. weapon, and adjust it to the Getai units. But, as i said, the skelleton and the animations might cause problems...
