Laptop shutting down sort-of randomly

Hello friends,

Recently, my laptop's been displaying a weird kind of behaviour: sometimes, when I close or open the display, it has the tendency to freeze completely, turning the screen completely green, blue, yellow (or another colour) before shutting down. No blue screens, no error messages, it just freezes the display in a certain colour before shutting down completely. When I restart, I get the default "Windows did not shut down correctly" message.

So far, it's been little more than a nuisance, but I'd rather not let it get worse or something.

Anyone have any ideas?
