Hi guys,
At the point in my Roma campaign where I can recruit Balearic Slingers as Merc. However not a fan of only 20 rounds of ammo! I've near to no modding so could some one give me an idiots guide on tow to increase it to 30?
Will this change be save compatable?
Also are Balearic slingers recruitable by Roma? Or are they just available as Merc?

Go to the file named export_descr_unit.txt in your EB/sp game edu backup folder, search for the balearic slingers entry, and look for the line that starts with stat_pri, you'll find yourself with several numbers (I don't have that file on me right now, so bear with me).
The fifth number is the ammo of the unit at hand, just alter it to whatever you wish, save the file and then copy and replace the one on the EB/Data folder.Code:stat_pri atk, chrg, msl_type, msl_rng, msl_ammo, wpn_type, wpn_tech, dmg_type, snd_type, min_delay, lethality
I don't know if it's save-game compatible, but it's worth a shot.
Romans can't recruit balearic slingers with barracks, they must be mercenaries.

All changes made to the edu are save game compatible. Mod to your heart's delight!
I've always had a problem with modding EB, the size of units and such. I've tried so many times to halve the number of soldiers in a unit of Triarii from 82 to 41, saved the changes to the file and then when I begin a new game... the number of Triarii is 82 and when I go back to the text file it's changed back to 82. No matter how many times I change it and then save it just keeps going back to 82.
I think you are editing the "general" edu in the main folder so to speak and every time you start the EB launcher, it gets over-written by the SP edu...Quote:

I found the export_descr_unit.txt no problem and changed the ammo from 20 to 30 for both the merc unit and the barracks unit. However I'm using Jirisys mega mod pack so I have the extended unit info in game which is still saying that the ammo for the slingers is 20... I imagine thats only true on the unit info card and has actually been changed in-game. Basically to update the unit info card I would need to do that else where?

Yes, the text is not updated when you make a change to the actual unit attributes, to change that you must go to your EB/Data/Text folder and edit the entry in export_units.txt.

Not all changes: if you start removing entries the savegames won't work. However, editing a unit's stats won't cause any problems.Quote:
