Richard III dig: DNA confirms bones are king's
A skeleton found beneath a Leicester car park has been confirmed as that of English king Richard III.
Experts from the University of Leicester said DNA from the bones matched that of descendants of the monarch's family.
Lead archaeologist Richard Buckley, from the University of Leicester, told a press conference to applause: "Beyond reasonable doubt it's Richard."
Richard, killed in battle in 1485, will be reinterred in Leicester Cathedral.
Mr Buckley said the bones had been subjected to "rigorous academic study" and had been carbon dated to a period from 1455-1540.
Dr Jo Appleby, an osteo-archaeologist from the university's School of Archaeology and Ancient History, revealed the bones were of a man in his late 20s or early 30s. Richard was 32 when he died.

It's gonna be very interesting where and how they bury him.
Re: Richard III (England) found
From another article I read, both York and Leicester want him, while the Queen would prefer he stay away from Westminster. :laugh4:

Opening post says Leicester Cathedral and this telegraph article says that as well:

A full blown Mass then. Maybe. Tricky one.

I love that we're still uncovering significant new history like this. Just goes to show that even some old mysteries can eventually be solved.
Re: Richard III (England) found
Just need to find the two kids he killed and we've got the full set.

We're still looking for the Arthurian sword in the stone and the Edwardian poker in the butt. We can even heat the latter to red hot for added authenticity.

Heh, the metro dealt with that in a cartoon, richard III on stage offering his kingdom for a horse and the audience pelts him with supermarket burgers.

I though they found some child size skeletons under a stair case in the tower some decades ago.
I just heard about this today while checking my email. Apparently the living descendants of Anne of York they found was the Ibsen family from London Ontario.
