I think my best is like 500 or so, my battles arent large enough to get more than that for a unit.
Yeah, I think my best is probably in the same range; 400-500ish. Probably cav or siege arty.
I do remember one battle where I had a Roman velite unit rack up well over 400, and their nearby velite buddies were in the 300-400 range. These low-end javelin guys wiped out an entire army almost on their own. I thought that was pretty noteworthy. It was a minor settlement battle though, where even now the AI seems content to just sit and allow themselves to be massacred by missile fire. No way they could have done this in open-field...or in a proper siege either, for that matter.
If you pile up pikemen in the opening of a wall or gate it gets out of hand quick. It's pretty typical to see 500-900 kills from 1 unit. I don't remember the exact number but the highest I've seen was a little over 1k by some Spartan Pikemen.
1300~ It was scythed chariots and my buddy was controlling them. He just tore the enemy archers and light inf to shreds. Battle had about 2 full stacks on both sides and if i remember correctly the casualties on both sides made up a total of about 6000 men

A bit more above 800 - citizen Cav versus skirmishes fresh off the enemy navy.
I think mine was 675 or so.

No the AI is just crap but it's not exactly breaking news.
It's pikemen. Sit them in front of a gate that the AI throws themselves against and you will get your huge number of kills. Similar things happened in RTW1 as well. I recall that as Baktria in EB i got similar numbers doing just that while defending from the EB equivalent of Parthia. This is not news at all.Quote:

Even better than a gate: A bridge. There is a river crossing map with a wide river crossing and a tiny, tiny bridge that can be fully covered by 1 unit of Pikes in a 5,5 man row. Usually I stick my elite morale-boosting units at the center of my front line - especially elite Pikes - but I placed my Silver Shields on that small bridge to cover any shenanigan-wrap-around attempts on my main army at the crossing. Damn barbarians did try to flank. 1983 kills, 21 deaths (15 or so from a few pilae units).
Interesting fact: I went and tested it with a hoplite unit of Royal Spartans to see whether this is exclusively possible with Pike phalanxes. The Spartans went all-out-300 for a surprising amount of time, but the sheer mass of 3000+ weaker units eventually pushed some troops *through* my phalanx. As soon as those guys engaged, my Spartans started dropping like flies. I lost 60 guys faster than my first 10 casualties, just from having 50-60 guys mashed into or behind the formation. Interesting to me because it means that hoplite phalanxes are not a joke. When in formation they might not have the killzone of Pikemen, but they are absolutely terrifying close-up regardless. I imagined the bonuses were just kind of a cute stats-increase for spears. Was I ever more wrong?
yup thats one thing i noticed about pikemen, maybe the enemy only had light unit (was over too fast for me to notice) but the pikemen hadnt moved a single inch from their spot. apparantly 2k+ soldiers pushing into their 120+ formation didnt have any impact.

I guess, mine would be this. This is an in-game shot at the time the slingers ran out of ammo. I believe, the after-battle kill count was well in excess of 1000 since it added routers to the kill score.

Mine hardly ever do. Super heavy melee infantry is dangerous, like Oathsworn or the late game Roman stuff.
god I hate fighting oathsworn. They are killers man
Oathsworn are really dangerous but the way to beat a gaulish tribe is to exploit their lack of flexibility. They have one good shock cav unit and one good shock infantry unit. Granted, they are some of the best (if not the best) in their respective field, but the gauls themselves have little else to provide to the battlefield.
