I have a question, hoping any of you guys can shed some light on.
Playing Egypt, I am now at war with the Seleucids. As soon I destroy them, I want to make peace with (at least some of) their former satrapies. For the diplomacy boost with them I am releasing all the Seleucid army captives. It doesnt seem to show on the diplomacy tab breakdown. So is this due to them being satrapies and not actual allies with the Seleucids?

Kill them. The satrapies will hate your guts regardless, because the war will take a long time and it will require multiple battles and the taking of settlements. A smarter way to go about it is to wait for a bit until the eastern satrapies declare war on them. Then they will like you quite a lot because you are the enemy of their enemy.

Yes, I thought by blitzing them I would escape the diplomatic penalties resulting from a long war. Any idea how many turns in do the Seleucid satrapies usually begin to revolt? Any way to speed up the process (gifts?) and would that be worth it?
Yes, like Myth said: better to wait until Seleucid satrapies break away. If Egypt attacks Seleucids while satrapies are still loyal, the war will make them even more loyal since Seleucids and satrapies will share a common enemy (you).
While you are waiting you can act on the removal of the super African league which will undoubtedly try to stab you in the back with your armies away on the eastern front.
In my campaign as Parthia the satrapies never broke from Seleucid. I snatched the first ones by creating rebellions and took only the last ones by open war.
So don't depend on this.
I'd say that attack Seleucids with half of what you got. In the process; enslave or release them.
I attacked Seleucids on the coast and Nabatheans attacked them in the inlands. (Seleucids got sandwitched; when they moved on me; Nabatheans took a province; When they moved on Nabantheans; I took a region.)
Media and Persia both asked for peace after I took out last Seleucids. (I actually tought about taking Media but...)
By that time Sardes had took out my satrapy; Cyprus. So I took the peace and headed to take out Sardes.
Sardes asked for peace when they had 3 provinces left.
I took the peace and took out Galatians and Cappadocians. (With support from Pontus. But it was still hard because they had superior quality fighters.)
I made defencive alliance with Rhodes and Rhodes asked me to join war against Sardes.
I joined the war and took out Sardes. (I was out numbered in the seas but Rhodes actually defended one of my cities and helped to take out Sardes fleets.)
As grande finale in the modern turkey area; I finished off Pontus in one turn. (4 armies, 4 provinces)
I have to say that the Galatians and Cappadocians where the hardest part; I whent back and forth with them for awhile. So If I had to do it again I probably would go for Sardes and Media instead of them. Or atleast get two good armies to hit them. I only had one and Galatian capital was ridiculously well defended.
