Illustrations from the Harley Psalter, England, 1st half of the 11th century
Illustrations from the Harley Psalter, England, early 11th century
Harley Psalter, f2r, Psalm 2
Harley Psalter, f4r, Psalm 7
Harley Psalter, f12r, Psalm 19
Harley Psalter, f65v, Psalm 123
Harley Psalter, f69r, Psalm 133
Harley Psalter, f73v, David and Goliath
Although the psalter was illustrated in England it was copied from the Utrecht Psalter which was brought to England c.1000 so it does not necessarily show Anglo-Saxon costume. Nevertheless, the Goliath figure has often been used to illustrate an Anglo-Saxon armoured warrior.
