Unit size v difficulty

Has anyone else noticed that as yu change the default unit size you alter the level of playing difficulty. I have always played with the largest setting available ie your average spearmen unit being 200 men instead of 100. The other day i decided to live outside my square and started playing at a lower setting... Up until i lowered the no. of men i would always struggle in expert... not so much in the battles but more in the management of my economy.. i would always run out of money... my troops were never where i wanted them when i wanted them and the increased production time (2 turns for 200men) always led to an increase in the number of revolts that i would suffer.. Now that i have changed down my spanish empire had conquered europe a little after 1400... my troops get produced faster and can be spread out more (ie 100 men in 1 province 100 men in another whereas i might have had to make a harder choice over where to place my men, moreover the increased production times meant that units had to be repaired more often and i would frequently be just as happy to lose a cheap province as the captured soldiers that would return could increase the size of my army quickly..) has anyone else noticed this increase/decrease in difficulty?

I used to play with huge units but not so any more.. It was fun to get more men on the battle field, but the unit sizes where just getting hard to move about... 120 Archers in 2 rowa.... Get few units like that on the field and things get pretty crowded... Also, there is not that much different to Default, as the units are twice as big, cost twice as much and take twice as long to build... You essentially end up with the same size army, just in bigger lumps... (the fact that retraining on huge still only took a single round added a little strategic difference..)..

So no, I don't see much economic difference in the two modes... I couldn't really tell if it made much difference to the AI, but it did seem slow down the start of the campaign a bit...

It's harder on huge unit size,but especially on battles where u have more men to handle.
I play huge unit size only for custom battles

I usually play on large, so I have bigger units but still the same production time. On huge, I think it is a bit more difficult because you must produce units in advance and cann`t react to surprises so easily. Might be interesting to mod the default production time to 2 turns.

But do u find any problems with the huge unit size on battles?

For me the really reason is that the maps can start to look a bit small on really big battles, there is no room to move or formuch in the way of tactics when your front line and archers reach almost from one side of the map to the other....
