OOC: this is a volume on documenting one legendary byzantine campaign, after going through the medieval section of volume 1, volume 2 will be published in the monastery as an alternate history. Each chapter will be fragmented. I assume that the empire has lasted into modern times.

The Byzantine Empire is an offshoot of the ancient glory of the Roman empire. That being said, I have often pondered what the world would be like had the Roman Empire not fallen to barbarians. Would it be better off, or worse off? Maybe the former, the latter, both or neither, we will never know.
Recently, I was reviewing Byzantine education policies and something dawned on me. Though there are many period histories, one can never find a full history of the Byzantine from the middle ages onward and the children of the empire from Vladivostok to Cordoba (My empire in the game was from muscovy, to Croatia in Europe, North Africa, Spain and all of the Middle East and in 1453, I had gigantic armies) were forced to piece together the history of the Empire from many different books and other sources, overburdening the empire's public school system, thus was this book comissioned sometime in 1998.
