My computer was degrading so I was building another, and was in the testing phase; selected custom battle,I selected all byz inf as defend and attack 16 units each,....all at valor 0 no weapons or armor, on start I saw that one of the attackes was at valor 9 (9 valor flags and a 9 on the unit icon) in addition a tree was 'floating' above the map. If you recall you cant get more than v4 in custom battle, I got that which was not selected, and more than should be possible.....
I later replaced two components of the PC and its been running good sense, #1 windows 98 disk had a scratch was was failing to propery load all files. #2 I had 2 memory moduals of diffefent brands that seem to have been in comflict...one of these may have caused the curious bug, but its interesting that v9 should show up where you should get only v4...lends an insight to some of the games flaws...
