Can't something be done with Avatars? i.e. the faces that appear by your name. I want the blonde short haired guy with the evil smile. Why? I like his Evil Smile.
Now I've been having a look around the boards and this is not the straight forward question that it might seem.
Apparently, there are many members of the community that feel your Avatar is something that may only be changed by privilige. i.e. you've got to Earn the right to change it (my current understanding is that after 500 quality posts, the right to choose my own Avatar from a pre-selected list will be mine).
As I was saying, there is a school of thought that beleives you have to earn this, through positive contributions to the Org and or Forum community. That to have a unique or at least slightly different Avatar, is a badge of honour.
Come on guys Talk about Martin from the Simpsons (I can just see them at the Chess Club, explaining to the new members they are only allowed to use pawns until they have proved their worth).
Nah, all gentle gibes to one side, those people have a point too and I'm going to refrain from making any jokes about gold stars because all we members see here is the finished product, and none of the hard work that goes into building it.
That being said, it would be nice to be able to have a choice of Avatars, even if it was from a small pool.
Heck, make it a choice between two: They guy I've got now, and the short haired blonde guy with the evil grin.
Then I can be him
