Tech tree too complicated?

There are a lot of options and paths, and not all of them lead to intuitive rewards.

To make it all more understandable, I think that instead of building new structures for each level of development, you instead upgrade the existing one.

There's actually no difference in the outcome, just a cleaner and less confusing interface. I always forget whether the 'workshop' or 'guild' is better http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/smile.gif

Give it some time, in awile you will have it memorized from top to bottom and bottom to top...

I agree that the tech tree is a little 'Byzantine.

Check out a post I made in the Main Hall titled PROVINCE REFERENCE. It deals w/ the provinces that give you +1 valour units, and lists the buildings you need to have in order to make those units. Not the total solution to the issue you have raised, but its a start.

Two of those provinces don't give the bonus, because you can't train Foot Knights, unless you mod it, which I did...

I belive the bonus applies to mounted Knights trained in the province when they are dismounted.
