I just downloaded the 1.1 update (foolishly thinking it would solve more irksome bugs than it would create), and I don't like it. Is there an easy way to get rid of it ?

You can reinstall, but besides that, I don't think there's any way to take it off.
reinstall. i think that would be the only way.
You'll probably have to reinstall.
I just had a look in the Add-Remove programs, didn't see the patch listed.
Don't do it Rhsys What don't you like? It takes time to get use to the period restrictions in the game, but stick with it - they make the game more challenging and are historical. I really like the rebalancing of spears vs knights; before the patch vanilla spears could hold off Royal Knights. Now, knights offer more of a threat but are not superpowerful - a delicate balance, got just right, IMHO.
My mistake, I won't remove it....
I was getting more than a little peeved by weird things happening - like the Byzantines forming loyalist uprisings in a province they'd never conquered, the Pope reappearing literally year after year with ever more terrifying armies - so I got the patch to see if it would fix anything. Instead it turned my rather large, poor but very stable empire into some kind of monstrous rebel factory with a massive reappearing Spanish force invading me.... gave me lots of money though. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/shock.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/confused.gif
But my dad tried reloading his campaign, and he hasn't got any problems, so I guess it was that utterly abysmall feature that the game makes things harder when you're close to victory (something that really, really makes me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ons/pissed.gif ), and not the patch after all.
I'm glad knights have been upgraded, they might actally be worth paying for now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/smile.gif Previously I've found steppe-cavalry to be much better value for money - they can't take on medium-heavy infantry, except flanking, but then neither could any other cavalry. Having a fast cavalry unit which is actually useful against heavy infantry will make things much more interesting
Sorry if I sound like a whinger, but the core of the game is really great, which makes the irritating features (which I will not go into... there's gaming to be done !http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wink.gif get on my wick.
Done the patch... did not like it at all... had to reinstall. What a waste of time... cavalary is strong enough in prepatch. Just because some crybabys wanted a kind of medieval battle tank they went on this. The only good thing is that they have tunned down the spys (wich i dont allow myself to use to anyway). And having the units only in the right time isn't that cool. It may be more historical but then again i like to invest in technology. If i was a king in the medieval era i would be one of those who could actually read... Why cant a guy beat reality in technological advance? And building upgrades before the unit is there to produce is just plain stupid. Like medieval men saying: OH yeah lets build this ultra-mega-super-structure so that perhaps some will come out of it... in the next 50 years?. Its silly and has i dont play online im just fine:). The game works fine and i love it has is. If i dislike something in the future i will mod for myself, not going in like a sheep... just cause any1 is doing it... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/cool.gif
well if u think light calv are no match for knights ur very wrong try holibars in my last mp game 3 units of these killed 3 generals on lancers, goths and merc calv as well as numerous other hvy calvary without any serious micromanagement.
1 tip though never send them near full strength inf.
