While browsing through the BIFs I found in the PlateCav.BIF an animation of firing a pistol. The pistol is even provided on the frames. Don't know if this can be of any use to anyone, but it's a free unit It needs the correct weaponpositioning but when you're done, and you'll have a very charcterfull late light cavalry. Might be worth a shot (excuse the pun)

No it can't. LK and myself tried using such frames 9/10 monnths ago for mounted firearms unit (You'll probably find several posts/threads both in The Dungeon and in other forums pertaining to this).
The problem was that, for MTW, the front rank ALWAYS lost their weapons when firing - which made the anaimation look very silly. After many weeks playing with it both LK and myself arrived at the conclusion that this was a hard-coded problem.
The fact that CA did'nt use these action animations (which would have been extremely appealing for many) and the many hours trial we each put into it convinced us they where not "available" for use.
Sad, but true.
I (and LK) still ahve the weapons positioning parameters for mounted firearms - in fact LK may have released some units that utilised these object positioning parameters in one of the many "New Units" downloads.
One thing - I never tried the same with VI - only MTW. I'm not sure I still have these positioning parameters for mounted firearms (we originally did 4 weapons for them - two mounted arquebus and 2 mounted muskets/dragoons). I'm quite sure LK and "The Lordz" will still have copies of these positioning files.
Check it out with LK ...

I think the best option for that is to rework the mounted archers/mounted crossbows (redraw the Crossbow as a musket) as horse pistolers/dragoons. I tested it with the Janissary Archer unit (w/c I've been trying to convert to Grenadiers) and it worked well - just change SBOW to arquebus.

I posted them "mounted musket" something or other.
It's on 3d I believe.
I have a copy on my pc though.
I still reckon the pistol thing can be done
but I stopped looking into this one around the same time as
Welly and know little if anything more about that.
I have some actionpages that worked
from some angles but not all.
I'm not sure where they are though.
