I'm busy writing my guide to unit graphics and a part of it is about faction shields. I believe we still don't know exactly how they are chosen, so I'm hoping that starting a thread on this subject will solve the problem.
Some points:
- LK noticed that the colour of the shadow influenced wether FacShields were used;
- LK noticed that when the Faction Colours are present in the BIF FacShields will be used;
- The colouring of the shield in the BIF has no influence;
- It is hard-coded which BIFs use FacShields: HlPlArSH, ChainHlm, Peasants, LArmWCav, MSHelm, PlateCav, PlateS and MKnight;
- For VI it was apperently too hard to change the code since no new BIFs are using FacShields;
- Not all the units using a particular BIF will be using FacShields, ie Peasants.BIF;
- d.txt in the FacShields folder has no influence.
Did you find the solution or statements? I will be pleased to hear them since I really want this to sort out.
