Well i have a fetish (haha) for longbows, and archers in general, so i decided to set up a few custom games to see how they faired against much bigger armies. The games in the file are all defensive with my longbowmen sitting on a hill surrounded by linemen of some sort. The eneimes always have much more money (random units) and the nosomassacre is me=$10000 and them=$50000.
I loved doing these games, but i suppose a good real person could probably tear this tactic to shreds.
tell me what you think

First of all welcome to the Org. Ragss http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wave.gif
And as for those battles, well I don't like playing custom battles really, there is no historical context that I like so much. Also defensive battles are usually easier for me.
Besides I prefer cavalry armies. Chaaarge http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif

Thanks for the welcome
In one of those battles the enemy had 4 valour 3 wep 3 armour elite calvary and they got torn down when they threw themselves at my line. But i still want to try the same setup against a full on elite calv charge.

Try handpicking the army for your enemy - the random does not do a good job of composing a balanced army...

i love my boyar units i had one bridge battle against the mongols and i had 16 boyar units all perfectly positioned in a defensive formation on one side so all of them could fire if an enemy tried to cross the bridge. haha they cut down their heavy cavalry in a matter of seconds before they turned and runned. not a single mongol would ever make it across the bridge...
