Is this game weighed in favour of the Japanese or what? I have come to the conclusion that it is possible to build a much stronger army with the Japanese than the Mongols..Yes I am a newbie and yes I get beaten regularly ( most of the time !)but I do think it's harder to win as Mongols. Anyone else agree? Plus your cav units are 12 men down before you start! My Korean units need much honour before they fight hard and always arrive tired. Don't get me wrong, winning is not everything. The game is great fun even when you lose- I should know! I'd just like to see the Mongols represented a little more fairly..But then I'm biased............Orda

I too was unhappy with the drop in mongol cavalry numbers. Somewhere you can edit em back up to be back to 60 if ya wish. I forget where off the top of my head.
However, the number of mongol horsemen in a troop was dropped due to their higher (compared to their japanese counterpart) combat ability. Its done to balance the game. Its not perfect, but its much better than the unpatched game.
For the money, mongol units are quite worthy. Skirmishers and Cav units especially so.
