What's yours? Boromir truly stands out above the rest (breaks my heart everytime I see it ~:mecry: ), and the other 4 are in any order really.

5) Tom Hanks' character (name eludes me), 'Philadelphia'
In no particular order:
-The 2 snipers in Black Hawk Down
- William Wallace in Braveheart
-Alonzo in Training Day
-Forrester in Finding Forrester(even if it´s not shown onscreen the part with Jamal reading the letter is touching)
-Lt. Gorman and Pvt. Vasquez in Aliens...trapped in the airshut with no ammo...they pull out a grenade...bang.

The House of Flying Daggers - female leads death er deaths are really painful to watch... like groundhog day for a death scene.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the first movie before the series) - the vampire with one arm who takes ages to die... really funny.
One of the most moving death scenes I like is when 'Chief' smothers Murphy after his pre-frontal lobotamy ...and then rips out the fountain and throws it thru the window to escape from the asylum in One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest...sends a shiver down my spine everytime i c it. (I love that film)
And 'Frenchy' in the Green Mile is particularly gruesome....
Darth Vader's death; a man who was irredeemably evil slowly dying after saving his son's life, his armour damaged revealing his truly is more machine than human, his helmet gone and behind the feared mask is an old, sick, scarred old man.
In I, Robot (the movie) when the nice robot is about to be deactivated or something, and he goes "Will it hurt?"
Nothing can be compared to those opera guys who get stabbed and then sing for half an hour before they die...

Number one is Boromir hands down. Then Bubba from Forrest Gump... and Wilson the Volleyball in Castaway (sure it's weird, but I thought it was sad).
Yoda was sad... Erm, I'm no good at this kind of thing, I guess.

Someone mentioned Bambi, so what about scene where the cute little deer is stomped in 'Bambi vs Godzilla'. Hilarious.
Also i remember being sad when James cagney noble death in angels with dirty faces(when he puts on the crying for the sake of the kids) and Captain courageous with Spencer Tracy dying with the lad crying. Ah Jaysus! Thats a sad film man!

For me "number one" is the death of Jean-Paul Belmondo in "The Professional". To the sound of that famous music of Morricone.
And of course all scenes of the Crucifixion in all movies about Jesus. ~;)
The scene toward the end of Last of the Mohicans where the British officer, Duncan Heyward (played by Steven Waddington), has a moment of nobility and sacrifices himself to save Hawkeye (played by Daniel Day-Lewis) and Cora (played by Madeleine Stowe), knowing full well the Indians plan to burn him at the stake. As Cora and Hawkeye are fleeing, Hawkeye turns and fires a mercifully well placed musket ball into Duncan's heart, killing him to spare him the pain of the flames that are just beginning to lick around his head. Combined with the stunningly simple yet incredibly emotive music playing during the scene, it never fails to give me chills and draw a tear or two whenever I see it...
OT: I've never seen the movie, but I remember in the book all the main characters survive except for the mohicans (duh) and Cora (incidentally a pretty sad death scene). Why'd they change it in the movie?Quote:

And I will never forget the death of the 1st mountain man in Deliverance. You know, the one who said, "Squeal like a Pig!" Always brings up a chuckle.
Another good one was Jackson in Gods and Generals. I really feal bad for that poor guy. Being shot by his own men. Must have been really painful, emotionally and physically.
And another classic is Joe Pesci's character Nicky in Casino. Got beat to death with baseball bats by the guy who played characters in several scorsese films which pesci beat the crap out of (Billy Batts in Goodfellas, that dude in Raging Bull)
Another emotional one is Crockett at the end of the new Alamo film.
And the kids in the Patriot. Makes me laugh though I felt sad when the British Dragoon dude died (yea I am usually the type of person who cheers for the bad guys)
