Re: Read and Unread Threads
Not one that we've found yet, Ludens. Seems the board reads your cookie when logging in (the part that says what date/time you last logged out), then highlights topic titles unopened since then. A little silly, assuming the reader read every single post in their previous session.
Admin is looking at the issue to see if there's an adjustment possible through the Admin CP, or a hack/workaround.

Thanks for looking at this. I am having the same problem and was wondering if it was because I was electing to block the cookies which come up every time you switch from thread view to forum view and vice versa.
If the problem is solved with a cookie, I would like to see an announcement made, so that I can know what its name is. That way I can tell it apart from the various ad-related (??) cookies and don't accidentally clean it off my system.
I'm still a 'noob' to the forum, so I don't know what the old one was like. It's impressively busy here - with "threads for past 2 weeks" put in the settings, there are 6 pages of threads to choose from. Due to the lack of search facility, I initially had trouble finding threads I'd posted in, to see if there were replies but it turns out that they'd just scrolled off the front page within a day or so. Apart from the icon, showing that I'd replied in a thread, and someone else's handle as being most recent poster, there was no instant way of knowing that replies had been made.
Also, it seems like threads only get highlighted as new when someone posts while you've been online, busy reading some other threads, say. I'll have to double-check next time I log on, to see if *anything* shows as fresh at the start of a new session.
