RTW demo battle mode
played the demo yesterday.. overall not bad.. the polygon units are great.. terrain as pretty if not better than vi. Controls are also very customisable.. e.g. you can even configure grouping keys and group recalling keys, different type of camera (RTS or TW) movements.
I believe now the max unit is 20, but the icons arent nice.. I cant see the selected icon clearly because its almost shaded like unselected ones.
I cant find a way to stop the panning when double clicking the unit. Its also very difficult to know the location of the units. imo the unit highlighting is lousy.. the men will have green color arrows below them when selected. also drawing unit is not as clear as vi or stw.. instead of seeing the ghost now we see the arrow markers on the ground.. pressing space also shows the arrow markers of units on the destinations, which are confusing since there are so many units.. i prefer to see the ghost of the units like now.
thats all i can recall now
oh yes.. i think i need to get a better video card to run at 1280x1024 32bit..

Re: RTW demo battle mode
Hello tootee,
Choice between 16 and 32 it and resolutions over 2000, also lots of other settings like FSAA.
Have a look at Preferences.txt, you can disable the green arrows there and even turn unitflags off. I also found a toggle for classic_gui, but that isn't working yet? Could be that it allows to display the unitcards like it did in STW and MTW. I for one hope it will.
We either have to get the hang of it or the game/we are mixing the settings. I found things I could pull of in one but not the other: drag&drop, strafing, camera view.

Re: RTW demo battle mode
nice didnt know can play around with preference.txt
other observations are
1. units grouped by [G] or [ctr]+[num] is the same.. [G] just assign the smallest unused number to the group and can be recalled using [num].. if i'm recall correctly. i prefer not linking [G] groups with [num] groups... more flexibility.
2. u can't drag and draw grouped units like now (the 'shape' is fixed).. it only functions when they are selected but not grouped.. also there is no equivalent of right-click to make the units equal in shape (i can't find the control that is).
3. selected units (not sure if behaviour same if grouped) if clicked on ground to move to a point.. will automatically arrive in side-by-side formation.. may be useful but this is an inflexibility as it is easy to draw them out quickly to achieve the same result.

Re: RTW demo battle mode
2. Depends which mode/setting you use. I don't recall the proper name for it, but I managed to do it. I guess you need to make a custom profile and/or things have to be enabled by the coders.
